Review of Huawei P10 Lite: a successful mini version of the flagship. Mobile communication technologies and data transfer speed. Information about the navigation and location technologies supported by your device

The Huawei line is already replete with duplicate smartphones, and at this rate, each model will soon have not one, but at least a couple of twins. The characteristics of the Huawei P10 Lite, whose release date is scheduled for mid-March, are painfully reminiscent of the P8 Lite 2017 announced at the beginning of the year. The differences from the P9 Lite are also minimal, so it is difficult to resist the desire to play a game of “find ten differences.” Well, or at least five...

Huawei P10 Lite: platform review

Let's start our review of Huawei P10 Lite with the chipset. The new representative of the mid-price segment is built on the Kirin 655 platform, which is generally not bad. The chipset is manufactured using a 16 nm process technology and is characterized by moderate energy consumption and good performance.

But don't expect outstanding performance. The Kirin 658 is based on reference Cortex A53 cores, the same as in the Kirin 655, which are not considered “fast”. (). In terms of computing power, they are noticeably inferior to Cortex A72, and even more so Cortex architecture A73, which is located in the latest processor Kirin 960 (Details about the processor).

In this regard, I would like to ask the Huawei representative a question: on what basis is the model positioned as a “light” version of the latest flagship? The flagship characteristics are not even close here, and it’s not just the processor, as will be seen from the further review of the Huawei P10 Lite. A typical average guy who should have chosen a more suitable name.

However, from a marketing point of view, the allusion to the flagship is quite understandable. Buyers who do not understand the intricacies of a smartphone structure will ask sellers for P10 consultants. And they will be happy to offer a cheap version of the “flagship”. I checked - this is exactly what they do (the request was for Huawei P9, they immediately offered Lite).

Huawei P10 Lite: camera specifications

The situation with the camera characteristics of the Huawei P10 Lite is approximately the same as with the chipset. Nothing to do with the flagship. Instead of a double module we see an ordinary one, without Leica optics, without optical stabilization, with f/2.2 aperture. The only thing that makes the models similar is the number of megapixels - the Huawei P10 Lite camera has 12 of them, as does the RGB module of the flagship model.

As you can see, the camera specifications are very mediocre. The front camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels, but without Leica optics and with an f/2.0 aperture.

Display

The display of the Huawei P10 Lite is not much different from the flagship, but this can be said for almost all smartphones, and not only those with the Huawei logo. We have Full HD resolution on a 5.2 diagonal (0.1 inches more than the P10) with a pixel density of 424 ppi. The screen type is, of course, IPS LCD. There is no information yet about the screen/front panel ratio.

Memory and RAM

We see quantitative improvements compared to the P8 Lite 2017 in RAM and ROM, and in this case, quantity is quite capable of turning into quality. If the P8 Lite had 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, then the P10 Lite received 4 GB operational and 32 GB permanent memory. It already looks like flagship specifications, although the P10 still has more storage - 64 GB.

Huawei P10 Lite: disadvantages

Huawei P10 Lite has enough disadvantages:

  1. Still microUSB, although it was high time to switch to USB Type-C, especially since the model is positioned as the younger relative of the new flagship.
  2. No gyroscope.
  3. Weak main camera with a small aperture and no OIS.

Some might say that we're being too picky about a mid-range model, but given the price of the Huawei P10 Lite, it seems entirely justifiable. We move on to price.

Huawei P10 Lite: price

Information about the price of Huawei P10 Lite was leaked online by a Dutch online store on the first day of MWC-2017. Price P10 Lite - 349 euros. Is it a lot or a little? In our opinion, a lot, because in this price segment you want to get more goodies, especially from the Chinese. But perhaps you have a different opinion. Page 1: Test and review: Huawei P10 lite – mid-range smartphone

Like last year, Huawei has decided to introduce three smartphones in the P line. But while the P10 and P10 Plus were announced at MWC 2017 at the end of February, the P10 lite arrived four weeks later. Perhaps there was a reason for this: the lineup Huawei smartphones seems oversaturated. However, this did not affect the quality of the P10 lite.

Buying a lite smartphone in 2017 no longer seems so straightforward due to the large number of models. Indeed, over the past two years everything has been different. P8 lite was positioned below P8, and below P9. Now the consumer has to choose between three middle-class models with the lite suffix. , introduced at the end of January, remains the cheapest model, however, Huawei continues to promote the P9 lite, despite the appearance of the new P10 lite.

P10 lite promises to be an excellent mid-range smartphone

Basic specifications appear identical or very similar. The smartphone displays have the same diagonal and resolution; we also did not see any significant differences in performance. All three models are equipped with Android 7 or will receive the corresponding update in the coming weeks.

The question of price remains. P8 lite 2017 is sold at a price of 240 euros or 15.8 thousand rubles in Russia, for which you will also have to pay 240 euros or from 14 thousand rubles. P10 lite has not yet appeared in Russia; in Europe the price will be 349 euros, which is noticeably more expensive

Average performance as you'd expect from a Lite

The SoC clearly shows the similarities between the three smartphone models. For the P10 lite, Huawei chose its own Kirin 658, which contains two CPU clusters with four Cortex A53 cores each, as well as a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. The chip is manufactured using the 16nm FinFET+ process. The GPU frequency is 900 MHz, CPU cores operate at maximum frequencies of 1.7 and 2.4 GHz. However, readers familiar with Huawei products will probably point out that the SoC belongs to the Kirin 650 line. The same was the case; the Kirin 655 processor, which was again used in the P8 lite 2017, is based on the same design and process technology. Except that clock speeds CPU is slightly lower.

P10 lite provides only slightly more performance than P9 lite or P8 lite (2017)

Therefore, you shouldn’t expect performance miracles from the P10 lite. In CPU-intensive scenarios, the increase compared to a smartphone is usually between 5 and 15%. If the focus shifts towards the GPU, then we do not get a noticeable difference. In the absolute performance rating, the P10 lite smartphone shows average results, in some places even below average. In the 3DMark test, the smartphone scored about 11,800 and 600 points (Ice Storm Unlimited/Slingshot), in AnTuTu 6 the overall performance was 61,300 points. The processor in Geekbench 4 showed 1,000 and 4,000 points in single- and multi-threaded tests, in GFXBench - 8 and 18 fps in the Manhattan Offscreen and T-Rex Offscreen tests. So the P10 lite can only be used conditionally as a mobile gaming console. Simple games will run smoothly, but in the case of “heavy” graphics, performance decreases, this also applies to the standard pre-installed Asphalt Nitro.

Behind the glass back of the Huawei P10 lies mid-level hardware

When compared with direct competitors, including samsung galaxy A3 (2017), then P10 lite performs quite well. In everyday scenarios, the smartphone showed no weaknesses, also thanks to its decent volume random access memory 4 GB for this price range. On the other hand, there is nothing noteworthy about the internal flash memory. In the Androbench test, we got a maximum of 137 and 101 MB/s for reading and writing.

Lots of memory, best fingerprint sensor

In the price segment above 300 euros, a memory capacity of 32 GB is taken for granted. It is also possible to expand the memory using microSD cards with a maximum capacity of 256 GB. But, as is often the case with Huawei, the memory card is installed instead of a second SIM card. Therefore, with support Dual SIM we'll have to separate. As usual, only one of the two SIM cards can be used for registration in 3G and 4G networks, the second SIM card will be used only for GSM.

The P10 lite does not have a USB Type C port, but Huawei does not consider it important for the target audience

The smartphone modem supports Cat 6, that is, it can work in LTE networks with download speeds up to 300 Mbit/s and upload speeds up to 50 Mbit/s. In our tests, we did not encounter any problematic modem behavior or frequent network switching. Concerning voice communication, then two microphones provide good filtering of extraneous noise, and there are no complaints about the quality of voice capture either. The second speaker is located at the bottom end of the smartphone, it provides high level volume without distortion, but oh low frequencies It's better to forget.

In addition to the LTE modem, one can note support for WLAN 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC for wireless transmission data. Wired transfer and charging of the smartphone is done via a micro-USB cable. As with the P8 lite 2017, Huawei decided to abandon the more modern and convenient Type C port. The reason is that Micro-USB cables are ubiquitous, and the thickness of the case is quite sufficient for such a connector. There is also a 3.5 mm audio jack.

For P10 lite, Huawei decided to choose the time-tested location of the fingerprint sensor

In addition to standard sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope and ambient lighting), the P10 lite adds a fingerprint scanner. In contrast, it is not placed under the display, but is located on the rear panel. Huawei has found an explanation for this: the P10 lite is aimed at selfie lovers who can use the sensor to release the camera shutter. The fingerprint recognition speed in our tests was quite high, and the sensor can also be used for additional control functions, unlike the P10. Thus, using the sensor, you can navigate in the gallery, answer calls or display the notification shade.

With P10 lite we get the best display

If you decide to choose between lite smartphones based on the characteristics of the display, then you are unlikely to succeed. Both the P10 lite and the previous two models use a 5.2" IPS panel with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. What for modern smartphone not so happy anymore. And Huawei has also “lost weight” to 5.1" instead of 5.2".

The display of Huawei P10 lite can be considered an advantage

Otherwise, the P10 lite's display performs well. Thanks to IPS technology, viewing angles are quite wide, colors are saturated, but color reproduction remains quite accurate. The only complaint is that the color temperature is too cold, which cannot be improved by manually adjusting the display options. We were never able to achieve a temperature below 6,800 K. But the brightness more than compensates for this shortcoming. We received a brightness level of up to 595 cd/m², which is quite enough to work with a smartphone even in bright lighting conditions. We also rate the contrast ratio of 1.653:1 positively.

Creating a high-quality mid-priced smartphone in 2017 is a difficult but necessary task. If a manufacturer does everything right, their device can become a global success, but even one mistake can lead to failure.

This year, the Chinese company Huawei is relying on the Huawei P10 Lite model in the middle segment. Instead of bragging dual camera Leica and powerful flagship-level hardware, Huawei uses a mid-range processor and a single rear camera with a resolution of 12 MP, thereby reducing the price to $350.

This isn't the only change made, so you'll need to take a closer look at this device to see if it's worth spending money on.

Design of Huawei P10 Lite

Huawei P10 Lite is attractive smartphone, which adheres to the traditional philosophy of this manufacturer. Despite this, it looks somewhat alien in the line of devices, rather reminiscent of last year’s.

This is an elegant smartphone with rounded corners, glass and a metal frame, in this it is similar to the Huawei P10 devices. The difference is that the Huawei P10 has an all-metal body, while the back of the Huawei P10 Lite is made of glass. This doesn't mean it looks cheaper or isn't as comfortable to hold, but you do need to pay attention to where you leave the device, as tilting it can cause it to slip and break. For this reason, after purchasing, it is advisable to immediately purchase a case.

Other notable differences are the lack of dual rear cameras and a physical Home button, the location of the fingerprint scanner, and the use of an outdated microUSB connector for charging. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back of the case at a considerable distance from the camera. Unlike some more expensive Android smartphones, you don't risk accidentally smudging the camera when trying to fumble the scanner. The scanner works reliably and quickly.

On the right side are the embossed power buttons and volume rocker, while the dual SIM card compartment is on the left. There is a microUSB connector and a speaker at the bottom, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack at the top.

Compared to the Huawei P10, this smartphone is longer, wider and thicker. Part of the reason is that there is a larger screen.

Screen

Huawei P10 Lite has a 5.2-inch LCD screen with Full HD resolution, a pixel density of 424 ppi, a maximum and minimum brightness of 539 nits and 4 nits, respectively, which ensures comfortable reading in bright light and in the dark.

That's where the good news ends. The color temperature of the screen is cool at 9400K, so most colors have a blue tint. You can change the balance by opening Settings > Display > Color Temperature. Excessive color saturation was also noticed, although many will not see this as a problem.

Interface and functionality

Like all recent Huawei smartphones, this device runs on the Android 7.0 operating system with the EMUI 5.1 user interface. As a result, the system is absolutely identical to that used in the Huawei P10, the only difference being the absence of a physical Home button, which is used for multifunctional navigation.

If you worked with EMUI before version 5.0 and didn't like it, now you should give it a second chance. Although it continues to look like a copy of the system Apple iOS, the Chinese manufacturer has included some features here that will attract fans of the pure version of Android.

By default, there is no list of applications, but you can easily enable it in the settings. If you don't like the layout of the onscreen navigation buttons, there are four different combinations available.

Experienced users will be attracted by the fact that there are many functions and settings options. At the same time, such diversity may scare off less sophisticated smartphone owners or older users who will have a hard time figuring it all out. In this case, there is a simple operating mode, which is located in the advanced system settings.

All this functionality means that EMUI is a heavily modified version of Android, although that doesn't stop you from quickly moving between different screens and sections of the interface. Possible reason is the use of machine learning in the interface, which redistributes system resources to where they are most needed. On flagship smartphones this optimization is not so noticeable, since there is already high performance.

Processor and memory

Huawei P10 Lite is half the price compared to the Huawei P10, so it has half the performance. It uses a Huawei Kirin 658 processor with eight Cortex-A53 cores, four of which operate at a frequency of 2.36 GHz, the others at a frequency of 1.7 GHz.

In Western Europe, the Asia-Pacific region and North Africa, a version of the smartphone with 4 GB of RAM is sold. In this review, we looked at the option with a 3 GB memory capacity, which also worked quite quickly.

Of course, the results in the AnTuTu and Geekbench benchmarks do not reach the flagship ones, but the vast majority of everyday tasks are completed without any problems. Navigation through the interface is fast and smooth, most heavy 3D games They also go quite quickly. You won't get 60 fps, but that doesn't mean the game won't be comfortable.

Flash memory capacity in all countries is 32 GB, card support available microSD memory to increase this value.

Internet and communications

Most standard 3G and LTE frequency bands are supported. Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS and Wi-Fi communication standards are also available.

Cameras Huawei P10 Lite

A couple of months ago, Huawei announced a line of functional smartphones, which included three models: the flagship Huawei P10, the affordable version P10 Lite, and the P10 Plus phablet. We have at our disposal the most affordable gadget of this trinity - Huawei P10 Lite. The device has a metal case with tempered glass inserts, a powerful processor, large volume RAM and flash memory, capacious battery with function fast charging, a slot for two SIM cards, a good camera and a fingerprint scanner.

Delivery package and first impressions

id="sub1">

Despite the fact that Huawei P10 Lite is not a flagship device, it has a stylish and thoughtful design. Even the box the device comes in looks extremely nice. It is made of thick cardboard white with velvety embossing.

The accessories included in the kit are arranged in separate sections made of the same material as the main packaging. In addition to the smartphone itself, the box contains a microUSB synchronization and charging cable, a power adapter, a clip for opening the SIM card tray, a wired headset (almost a complete copy of Apple’s EarPods), instructions and a warranty card.

Taking the smartphone out of the box, you notice that it is thin and quite light. In general, the device has average dimensions - 146.5 × 72 × 7.2 mm. Weight - 146 grams.

The Huawei P10 Lite is comfortable to hold in your hands. It is difficult to reach the edges of the screen with one hand. You'll have to use your other hand or intercept. Actually, for this reason, in the settings the user can set a special mode, when by swiping from edge to edge of the display, the picture on the screen will be reduced by 30%. In this case, you can reach the necessary menu items with one hand. At the same time, the device can be carried in the pocket of trousers, jeans, jacket or shirt. You don't feel any discomfort.

During testing, it turned out that Huawei P10 Lite constantly strives to roll off uneven surfaces, for example, from chairs, sofas, etc. It's all the gloss's fault. For this reason, you should be careful and careful.

Design and appearance

id="sub2">

Huawei didn’t bother developing a unique design and used the reserves of Huawei P9 Lite and Honor 8 to the maximum. The result was something in between. The metal used as a base is an alloy of aluminum and magnesium. It can be seen on the sides. The front and back parts of the device are finished tempered glass with 2.5D effect. It has a Mohs hardness level of seven, which means it is resistant to scratches and damage. Fingerprints on the glass are practically invisible due to the use of an oleophobic coating. On sale you can find four color options for the case: black, gold, blue, white. I had the gold option at my disposal.

The smartphone has a classic body shape with rounded corners. The entire structure is monolithic. On the front there is a 5.2-inch screen.

There is a speaker above the screen for telephone conversations. Its volume is enough to communicate in a noisy room or on the road. There is an LED indicator to the right of the speaker. It blinks when there are incoming messages, phone calls, or low battery. It can be disabled in the settings.

To the left of the speaker are proximity and light sensors, front-camera.

There are no buttons or other elements under the screen. The inscription “Huawei” is emblazoned here. Function keys fully integrated into the screen shell.

On the right side there are volume buttons and a power/lock screen key. The latter is embossed, so it can be quickly felt blindly.

On the left is a compartment for two nanoSIM-sized SIM cards. One of them can be used to expand memory. MicroSD memory cards are used here. This configuration does not allow you to use two SIM cards and a memory card at once. We'll have to choose.

On the top edge you can see a microphone for noise reduction, as well as a hole for connecting wired headphones.

On the bottom edge on the right there are speaker holes for external calls and music, and on the left there is a microphone. In the center you can see a microUSB connector for connecting to a computer and charging. I would rate the sound of the main speaker a solid five. Firstly, the sound is very powerful and loud. Secondly, you feel the volume and detail. Thirdly, there is no wheezing or sound distortion at maximum volume. The only negative is that if you cover the speaker grill with your hand or finger, the volume drops by 80%.

On the back you can see the main camera lens. It in Huawei P10 Lite has a resolution of 12 megapixels, a Sony IMX286 sensor with laser focusing, autofocus and LED flash. The area with the camera and flash does not protrude relative to the plane of the back of the smartphone.

A little lower in the center is a fingerprint scanner, which has a square shape with smoothly curved corners. With it, you can not only unlock the device, but also answer calls, turn off the alarm, view the list of open applications (to do this, you need to swipe up on the sensor), open the notification panel (swipe down) and erase notifications (double tap on the sensor). Moreover, the user can create a secure area to store confidential information and classified applications, which can be accessed using a fingerprint.

The fingerprint sensor works quite quickly and, most importantly, accurately. The official Huawei website says 0.3 seconds for recognition, and this seems to be true. During testing, it accurately recognized my fingerprints and did not react to strangers. In total, you can save up to five prints in the device memory.

As for the assembly, it is perfectly good. All parts of the body fit closely, the materials and finishing deserve a solid five. There are no plugs on the connectors, nor are there any strap mounts. The device did not receive protection from moisture and dust.

Screen. Graphics capabilities

id="sub3">

Huawei P10 Lite uses a 5.2-inch screen made using LTPS technology with anti-glare coating. Resolution - 1080x1920, pixel density - 423 ppi. This is a fairly high value - the picture on the display looks sharp. The frame around the screen is quite narrow: approximately 3 mm on the sides and 14 mm on the top and bottom. Viewing angles are maximum. In direct sunlight, the image remains readable and the screen does not glare.

The picture on the display looks good, but I still wouldn’t give it the maximum score. The matrix does not have the highest brightness levels, and the brightness of the black color is somewhat high (the black color is not pure), but the contrast is quite sufficient.

The gadget is equipped with a light sensor, thanks to which it can independently adjust the brightness level that is comfortable for working in given conditions. The sensor works quite correctly.

If we talk about the sensitivity of the screen, it responds quickly to touches and recognizes gestures without problems. In total, the device supports up to ten simultaneous touches. The gadget also easily understands touches with loose gloves.

Huawei P10 Lite has a proximity sensor that blocks the display when you bring the smartphone to your ear. You cannot activate the screen by double tapping the glass, but the display is activated by touching the fingerprint scanner pad. True, it is located on the back side and is inaccessible when the smartphone is lying on the table with the screen facing up.

Hardware platform: processor, memory, performance

id="sub4">

Huawei P10 Lite is equipped with a proprietary HiSilicon Kirin 658 chip with an eight-core processor with a frequency of 2.36 GHz. Graphics subsystem (GPU) - Mali-T830. On sale you can find a version with 32 GB of built-in flash memory and 3 GB of RAM; in the Asian market you can also buy versions with 4 GB of RAM. To expand the memory capacity you can use microSD cards up to 128 GB, although the connector for them is combined with a slot for a SIM card. This means that you will have to use either a card or a nanoSIM.

If we talk about the operation of the interface, during the test I did not notice any glitches or slowdowns. Everything worked quickly. Mobile games They came out of the test kit without any problems. The AnTuTu test results also indicate that this is a typical mid-range device. To sum up the performance, I note that it is sufficient for most people. For watching videos, playing games, listening to music, using instant messengers, social networks, banking applications and a navigator.

Communication capabilities

id="sub5">

Huawei P10 Lite has two slots for nano SIM cards. Working with SIM cards is implemented in the simplest way: after installing both SIM cards in the device, the smartphone will offer to assign which one to call, send messages and access the Internet with.

A SIM card in any slot can work with 3G/4G networks, but only one of them can function in this mode at a time. To change the assignment of slots, cards do not need to be swapped - this can be done directly from the phone menu.

The smartphone supports all modern communication networks: 2G/3G and 4G cat. 6 on Russian frequencies, confidently receives the signal and does not lose it for no apparent reason. There is also a software option that allows you to improve the quality of signal reception, it is called “Signal+”. Huawei says that in their next smartphone they have used not a double, but a “triple virtual antenna Signal+ 2.0.”

Talking on the phone is comfortable. The speaker has a good volume reserve, and the interlocutors did not complain about poor audibility during testing.

The device can work with all modern wireless networks. Among them are Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.5 and 5 GHz), Bluetooth version 4.1. All modules work quickly and without failures.

The smartphone supports Wi-Fi Direct, you can organize wireless point access via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth channels. Smart Wi-Fi+ lets you automatically switch between Wi-Fi network and network mobile transmission data. USB 2.0 connector supports connection external devices V USB mode OTG.

Among the additional communication tools, it is worth noting GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou (standard cartography is built into the smartphone Google Maps). The navigation error radius during testing was about 3 meters, which is very little. The gadget copes well with the role of a navigator.

Duration of work

id="sub6">

The smartphone has a 3000 mAh lithium-ion battery. Under testing conditions, with a number of calls of 35-40 minutes per day, browsing the Internet for about 2 hours via 4G, listening to an mp3 player through a headset for about 2 hours a day, the device worked for 27 hours. While viewing Huawei video P10 Lite worked for 8.5 hours, in navigator mode - 4 hours 35 minutes. As a result, the device has to be charged every day. If you use the smartphone in a less intensive mode, it will work for 2-2.5 days.

In terms of autonomy, the device is no different from the vast majority of other Android smartphones. However, Huawei has provided several battery usage profiles with quite self-explanatory names: productive, “smart” (auto-adjusting processor power depending on the task being performed) and energy-saving.

There is a fast charging function, where a 10-minute charge will allow you to use the device for 2 hours. 30 minutes is enough to charge the battery to 43%, and 97 minutes is enough to full charge batteries. Built-in five-level current limiters provide additional safety. Wireless charging the device does not support.

User Interface and Operating System

id="sub7">

Huawei P10 Lite runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and Emotion UI 5.1 user interface.

For those who are familiar with this shell, it will not be difficult to figure it out. Work with gestures is supported, there is an additional virtual control button that folds out on the screen into a radial menu. The navigation panel has been modified, divided into several tabs, the first of which has a convenient timeline of events, the next you can find a quick access menu to the main settings, and by swiping up from the bottom you can call up another menu where you can find a flashlight, a voice recorder and some other useful functions and settings.

Among other things, the user can select the effect when unlocking or moving between desktops, select the style of icons, fonts, and response to incoming call when you bring the phone to your ear. There is a translation function here silent mode when turning the screen down, as well as tilting the phone to organize widgets. In general, there are a lot of little things that especially impressionable people should like.

There are also several built-in themes with the ability to download new ones for free and for a fee, as well as very nice pictures for the lock screen. This is one of the rare cases when, purchasing new smartphone, you don’t have to change the built-in backgrounds and themes to new ones. There is a mode for automatically changing wallpaper, when the pictures are displayed in a chaotic order; To do this, you just need to shake your smartphone.

Among the preinstalled applications there are standard applications for the manufacturer: free programs Yandex and Mail.ru, Opera browser, WPS Office to work with office documents, Dropbox, Shazam, Facebook, Clean Master, EyeEm, booking service Booking.com, the “Health” application, which allows you to set goals for weight loss, and with the help of GPS navigation, track the distances mastered by the user and the type of movement (walking, running, cycling) and count calories burned and thus control the degree of task completion.

Camera. Photo and video capabilities

id="sub8">

The main camera of Huawei P10 Lite allows you to take photos with a resolution of 12 megapixels. The Sony IMX286 module with a pixel size of 1.25 is used. The pictures are obtained good quality, the automation works as expected. Even in the evening you can get photographs of satisfactory quality.

The camera control menu is generally familiar from previous models. A gesture on the left brings up a menu with various modes, on the right - a menu for camera settings (image resolution, button controls, etc.), and at the bottom brings up a menu manual settings shooting. In it, as usual, you can independently control focus, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation and white balance. There are practically no dark, undetailed areas in the photograph, or light areas without information. Colors and white balance are excellent. Focusing accuracy and speed are high.

At poor lighting blurriness appears. But overall the picture is of adequate quality.

The Huawei P10 Lite camera can shoot video with a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 at 30 or 60 fps with stereo sound. There is also the possibility of slow-motion slo-mo recording in 720p resolution at 120 frames per second. For video shooting, you can turn on the stabilization function, but its operation is barely noticeable when shooting on the go. The camera's overall performance in recording video is average: the image is loose and not always sharp, although it is bright and without noticeable artifacts. But you still expect a lot more from shooting FullHD 60 frames per second. The sound during video recording is recorded quite well, and the noise reduction system copes well with wind noise.

I will also mention the front camera for selfies. It is 8 megapixels with an f/2.4 aperture. There is no autofocus. You can record videos in resolutions up to 720p. The camera performs its function well.

I liked the Huawei P10 Lite, especially considering the price of less than 20,000 rubles. In fact, the device is an affordable alternative to the Huawei P10, but without the high-quality photographic component. The dimensions of the devices are almost identical, the screen size and its quality are also comparable. The resolution, of course, is different, it is not in favor of the younger model. The camera of Huawei P10 Lite is average. The resulting photos in daylight look quite high quality, but in difficult lighting conditions the pictures are not the best. There are also questions about the quality of the video recordings.

The advantages include excellent assembly, case finishing materials, the most new operating system Android 7.0 Nougat, LTE support, a slot for two SIM cards, a fingerprint scanner. In terms of hardware, Huawei P10 Lite also has no problems. The Kirin 658 processor coupled with 3GB RAM ensures a smooth and fast user interface. The operating time from the built-in battery with average intensity of use is 2 days. With a more intense load - a day. Fast charging supported.

Huawei P10 Lite has many competitors. First of all, these are Honor 6X, Huawei Nova, Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017).

On the day of publication, Huawei P10 Lite could be purchased at a price 18,000 rubles.

It was created in collaboration with the world-famous Leica brand, which provided it with excellent photographic capabilities. Almost four weeks later, the company announced sales of a cheaper version of the flagship - P10 Lite, without the Leica dual camera and with a hardware platform of half the power.

As a result, the lineup of Huawei smartphones in 2017 seems very oversaturated; the manufacturer has too many similar devices to each other - here are Honor 8, Honor 8 Pro, P8, P8 Lite, P10, etc. Does this affect the quality of the devices? Let's find out by reviewing the Huawei P10 Lite.

In Europe, sales of Huawei P10 Lite started at the end of March. Behind this model you'll have to shell out about $290. In Russian online stores, a smartphone can be purchased for 18,500 rubles.

Users receive the seventh straight out of the box Android version Nougat in the proprietary EMUI 5.0 shell. The developers have provided several unique features for the P10 Lite. One of them is AppTwin, which allows you to access several accounts at once. in social networks on one device.

Equipment and appearance

Chinese designers not only blindly copy Western trends, they also try to bring something of their own into the design. mobile products. The P10 Lite's innovation starts right out of the box. The smartphone is packed in a vertical position between a cardboard partition and a box with the rest of the contents. There are no frills on the outside - just a bright stripe and the Huawei Design logo.

The design of the device is noticeably different from the older model. If the regular P10 has new body shapes not previously used by Huawei, then the P10 Lite looks almost completely similar to the previous copies of the 2015-2016 model. In principle, this is not critical. The smartphone does not look outdated and is quite pleasing to the eye with its rigid angular shapes. There are three color versions of the device to choose from.

The case materials are also different from the P10/P10 Plus. Back panel The device is made entirely of glass, which sharply turns into a solid metal frame at the ends. Such a surface quickly collects scratches and is very unreliable in the hands due to constant slipping. It is recommended to immediately purchase a case or protective bumper with your phone.

The front panel of the P10 Lite is protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5. There are no physical buttons or scanners under the display; in their place is a slightly glared company logo. The “Home”, “Back” and “Options” functions are performed by the key icons on the device screen.

Just above the screen you can see two small eyes - these are the proximity/light sensor and the 8-megapixel front camera. The picture is completed by a thin speaker grille.

On the right side there is a display activation key with a relief surface, and above it is a volume rocker. When pressed, they respond with a barely noticeable pleasant click.

On the left side of the device there is only a SIM card slot. Traditionally, instead of one SIM card, you can use a memory card to expand the internal storage. If you look closely, you can see a thin antenna insert above the slot.

The top end of the P10 Lite, in fact, is its main drawback appearance. The large 3.5 mm audio input hole is placed asymmetrically here, which clearly spoils the impression. The perforation for the noise-canceling microphone is located a little further on the right.

The bottom of the smartphone is also not very harmonious. The MicroUSB input is surrounded by a small hole for the talk microphone and a multimedia speaker grille. White antenna inserts are visible on the sides.

The back panel of the device is more reminiscent of Honor 8. In the upper left corner there is a 12-megapixel main camera module with flash. Below is a built-in fingerprint scanner, recessed inside the lid. The fingerprint sensor works quickly and stably, no complaints.

In general, Huawei P10 Lite will be able to satisfy the needs of almost any category of buyers, all thanks to the compromise display diagonal (5.2 inches), convenient body shape and small frames around the screen. The only thing that causes concern is the glass surface at the back. It is clearly not designed for heavy loads (shocks, falls) and will quickly lose its presentation during the operation of the smartphone.

Screen

Huawei P10 Lite is equipped with a 5.2-inch display with FullHD resolution (1920*1080 pixels). Pixel density is 424 units per inch. The screen is covered with 2.5D glass with a good oleophobic coating. For a mid-price smartphone, the P10 Lite has very good minimum and maximum brightness values of 4 and 539 nits, respectively.

The only drawback of the display lies in the temperature of its colors. Initially, they are set to a very cold value, which is why some users may find the picture on the screen very unusual. You can slightly adjust the factory value in the settings.

Overall, the P10 Lite's screen deserves high praise. You quickly get used to the color balance, and wide viewing angles and excellent readability on the street are only a plus for the device.

Performance

The smartphone's hardware platform includes a proprietary quad-core Kirin 658 processor with a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz. The chipset is paired with a Mali-T830 MP2 graphics accelerator and four gigabytes of RAM.

Antutu results:

The P10 Lite promotional campaign promised about half the power flagship models rulers. Indeed, the smartphone fully corresponds to its price level. In terms of gaming potential, it can handle most applications from Google Play. However, the most resource-intensive games with heavy 3D graphics will still require turning the settings sliders to medium values.

Navigation in user menus occurs without lags or freezes; the proprietary EMUI shell copes well with all user requests. The manufacturer regularly updates the software, so that possible bugs will be quickly eliminated.

Camera

Unfortunately, hopes for a dual main camera module were not justified. The currently popular format once again bypasses the Lite line. There was also no collaboration with the Leica brand, which is why the quality of the P10 Lite photo modules is lower than the flagship models.

At the back of the smartphone there is a 12-megapixel main camera with f/2.2 aperture. Inside, a 1/1.28-inch photosensor is used, tiny even by smartphone standards. Naturally, the quality of photographs deteriorates noticeably at dusk and at night. More clear shots can be obtained in good lighting, but even in such conditions, the camera software artificially increases sharpness.

The phone can record video in FullHD at 30 frames per second. The front 8-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture and 1.25 micron pixel size takes fairly clear selfies. There are no complaints here.

Speaker, sound quality

The multimedia speaker of the device is loud enough and does not break into high frequencies like cheaper Chinese counterparts. It still lacks sound depth, but you can still hear an incoming call.

A big plus is the presence of a branded, high-quality headset included. The headphones sound pretty good, they can be used as a backup to the main more expensive headset, if available, and they will fully satisfy users who do not claim to be audiophiles.

Battery

A 3000 mAh battery, although not a record-breaking capacity, ensures reliable day-to-day operation of the P10 Lite, which is possible thanks to high-quality software optimization of energy consumption. In battery life tests, the device lasted a little longer than the P10/P10 Plus. Active Internet use and maximum display brightness drain the battery in 8.5 hours.

Present Fast technology Charge. Full charging time is about 100 minutes.

Communication and Internet

The set of sensors for cellular networks communications includes everything you need. The phone will work perfectly in all available bands in the CIS. There is the possibility of navigation using GPS and GLONASS.

With P10 Lite you can also quickly pay for purchases at the store checkout - it is equipped with NFC chip. It is also possible to connect external peripherals (mouse/keyboard, drives) to the smartphone via the USB-C port.

Video review of Huawei P10 Lite

Competitors, conclusion

  • Optimal display diagonal;
  • Good quality of pictures from the front camera;
  • Android 7.0 out of the box;
  • Regular updates of the proprietary EMUI shell.
  • High quality build
  • The back cover gets scratched quickly;
  • Excessive sharpening of pictures from the main camera;
  • Mediocre performance;
  • Boring design.

In the mid-price category, the P10 Lite has many competitors, even among models of its own brand. We can talk about the absence of any individual advantages specifically for the P10 Lite, but at the same time it fully deserves the title of a high-quality smartphone that is simply a pleasure to use. Alternatives are still the flagship and cheaper Xiaomi Mi5, with more modest characteristics, or if you need a cool camera.
