We started thinking about buying a receiver not long ago. Due to the fact that a regular antenna began to receive signals very poorly (it was somehow better before), my husband and I began to look closely at receivers. The quality of channel reception was no longer satisfactory at all: ripples, a lot of noise, some channels only transmitted sound. Despite all this, there are only 9 of them left - you can’t really get around...
Therefore, we decided to install a digital terrestrial receiver in our house.
The Internet is, of course, a convenient thing, you can use it to watch programs, movies and news. But I don’t really like waiting for the computer to boot, the Internet to connect and similar nuances. And often there is no time for all these things - sometimes you run home for lunch and have time there’s only so much to spare, and then you still have to tinker with the computer. It’s much easier to press one button, forgetting about everything around you. While enjoying a snack, periodically look at the TV screen...
When choosing a receiver, we were looking for a budget model with convenient and understandable functionality. After wandering around the local stores, we realized that inexpensive model It’s not possible to buy, so we turned to the almighty Internet. And imagine my surprise when I saw this model much cheaper than in our offline stores!!!
We consulted with my husband at a family council and decided on UClan T2 HD Internet (U2C).
General information:
Price at time of purchase: 289,00 hryvnia -(approximately $10.34).
This is the net cost, without shipping charges and fees for transferring money. Now on the website the price has become a little higher. Although this is not surprising - we purchased the receiver a couple of months ago. But still the price is quite affordable, in my opinion.
Where was it purchased? - in the online store "SatMarket".
We liked the store's service! The parcel arrived on time and well packaged.
There is enough information on the box. Brief and to the point.
The kit consisted of:
receiver, power supply, HDMI cable, remote control, 2 batteries, RCA cable (in other words: tulips) and operating instructions.
APPEARANCE.
The receiver itself is small and compact in size (11x6 cm). For me, this is important because there was no place for it near the TV. And if the dimensions were larger, there would be difficulties with placement!
There are four buttons on the front panel: start, menu and the other two buttons for switching channels. There are no connectors on the front, they are all on the back panel and on the side. There is no display, just a button indicating that the receiver is connected. If you turn off the start, the button lights up red color. When working, the button turns green. The indicators are not intense, which is good. I initially thought that they would not interfere. No, I was wrong! This is okay.

IMPRESSION:
The first thing my husband and I did after connecting the device was of course to turn on automatic search channels - it was fast enough. After a few minutes, the receiver found all available channels and several radio stations.
In total, together with radio stations, we managed to find 53 channels.
Three of them are radio, and the rest is television.
But in order for so many channels to appear, my husband had to climb onto the roof to turn the antenna in different directions (coordinated him by phone). Only after we found a more or less normal reception point did 53 channels appear. And before these manipulations there were significantly fewer channels , in the region of 18 pieces. On top of everything else, the contacts on the antenna were also cleaned because everything was rusty. The signal became clearer, cleaner and more stable! It’s better, of course, to replace the antenna, but we have what we have and go from there...
Now the signal quality does not drop below 80%. And this quality is only in windy weather! On a clear, windless and sunny day, 90-100% is stable. A completely normal signal.
The receiver responds to commands quickly and the range is acceptable. There are no hitches when switching channels. Channels switch quickly enough, a couple of seconds! The ON/OFF command requires more time, approx. 10-15 seconds.
The picture is transmitted clear and bright, without noise. The sound quality is also pleasing. The volume can be adjusted using the TV remote control or directly with the receiver remote control itself!
At Wi-Fi connection You can view several services:
- IPTV;
- YouTube;
- Cinema WEBTV.
Our firmware, as it turned out, is the penultimate one, so we didn’t have to reflash anything. The services work fine. The frames don’t jam and the sound is clear. I dare say that a lot depends on the quality of the Internet. We tried connecting the receiver from friends, but the services didn’t work as well as we would like .But their Internet is weak, hence the problems.
In our house, all the services work great. The main thing is to understand the intricacies of the settings and have enough time because there are enough functions that need to be activated!
The only thing that seemed not very convenient was the presence of only one USB connector. In a good way, it would be better to have two! It’s not convenient: in order to insert a flash drive, you need to remove the Wi-Fi adapter, then the Internet turns off, but you can use the flash drive. It’s a pity that there is only one USB connector. You have to pull the flash drive back and forth, otherwise it would always be in the connector !

Network configuration
The receiver supports a wired connection, working with Wi-Fi adapters and 3G modems.
In a wired interface, you can use Static IP, DHCP, the rather old BOOTP protocol, and even PPPoE with authorization to connect directly to your provider, bypassing the router.
After connecting to the network, to check it, you can use the ping function, which by default adds one of the IPs DNS addresses from Google. You just need to run it and make sure that after a couple of seconds, the value of the Error column does not change by mistake.
Wi-Fi connection is also without any problems. We insert a supported USB adapter into one of the available USB connectors and connect to the wireless network.
We look for your access point, enter the encryption key and use it. When you turn on the receiver, the connection will be restored automatically.
With tricky browsing (car sharing) everything is fine too.
We enter the server settings via U2C_Editor and enjoy watching. Switching NTV Plus channels takes about 3 seconds.
The receiver supports the TimeShift mode, but to watch time-shifted programs you need a fast storage device, which will be written on the receiver screen when you try to activate this mode using the remote control button.
Recording will also work with a slow drive. A list of recordings will be available in the Media menu.
The receiver is capable of playing the vast majority of popular containers and codecs. By going to the Movies section, you can play videos both from a USB drive and via a local network.
If everything is clear with the first point, just go in and select required file, then to search for video on your home (local) network you need to connect to a satellite receiver USB drive, in the root of which there should be a file “libsmbclient.elz” - this is the Samba client.
If you do have a USB drive connected and a Samba client on it, the receiver will automatically find all home groups in your local network.
Extra services
Available by pressing the green button on the receiver's remote control. As far as we know, this menu is constantly being updated with new features.
The IPTV service contains the ability to create or download 4 separate lists with stream channels or links to specific content.
Tested with .m3u playlists from two favorite receiver groups on Enigma2 and loaded them into U2C S+ Maxi HD (RCA).
Channel names are successfully displayed in Cyrillic and are available for playback. Changing the channel list is available by pressing the left-right arrows on the remote control.
The 3rd and 4th list can be created using the U2C_Editor. We simply download data from the receiver via IPTV channels, edit it and load it back into the receiver.
You can, for example, make a selection of films from the ex.ua service by simply going to the page with the desired film, copying its name and download link.

Summary:
A good budget satellite receiver with quite serious media player functions. The lineup clearly separates receiver configurations according to the needs of connecting to a TV, without forcing you to overpay for the presence of connectors that you most likely never use.
Own services and implementation of some ideas, for example, the work of Youtube and ex.ua through the Web interface, distinguish these receivers from others, although in some cases they need improvement.
For example, to use the Samba client and Web interface, a USB drive is required; on the other hand, you can use the same drive for recording.
