Acer Iconia Tab A510 - Specifications. Acer Iconia Tab A510 - Specifications Information on other important connectivity technologies supported by the device

Last year, Acer released its first Android tablet. It was a 10 inch Acer A500. nVidia Tegra2, aluminum case, low price and USB host won its audience and made the tablet very popular. Yes, of course, the A500 had its flaws (for example, the screen grain was noticeable), but for Acer it was a hit.
Very popular Acer tablet The A500 received a direct successor. Acer Iconia Tab A510.

Appearance

The tablet is supplied in a white box. The set is simple: tablet, Charger, micro-USB-host adapter.

The tablet itself measures 176x260x10.95 mm. The weight of the tablet is 680 grams.

The back cover (with a bead on the top and bottom edges) is made of soft-touch plastic with a pleasant “dot” texture (it’s like “a dot”, but in reverse). The feeling of a rubberized material, creaky and not easily soiled. Left and Right side– made of silver plastic (aluminum look). The front part is solid glass.

Taking the tablet in hand, we examine it and see on the left side a jack for connecting headphones or a headset and a power button.

Continuing the search around the perimeter, on the top edge we find a volume rocker with tactile “dots” (it’s very convenient to blindly find where it’s “quieter” and where it’s “louder”), a screen rotation lock switch, and also (without immediately noticing) a small microphone hole.

On the right side there is a microHDMI connector and a flap under which the card slot is hidden microSD memory.

The bottom edge houses a reset button (in case your tablet freezes) and a universal connector, which at first looks like a simple microUSB.

This connector is intended for connection to big computer(in order to transfer data to the tablet), for connecting various peripherals to the tablet (via a micro-USB-host adapter), and for charging (charging, unfortunately, only occurs from an outlet - 12 volt power). To prevent an inquisitive user from using the charger with a regular microUSB of another device and, having burned it to hell, does not run to court for compensation, there is a “key” on the charger connector - a groove that will prevent trouble.

Behind the tablet there is the Olympic Games logo, the Dolby Digital Plus logo, the main camera, stereo speakers (covered metal mesh) and an additional microphone hole (used for noise reduction). I got a black tablet, there is also a white one. Black is more like a “business style”, while white is more like a “youth style”.

On the front edge, in addition to the large protective glass, there is an Acer logo, model name Iconia Tab, a front camera eye (1 megapixel without autofocus), a light sensor and, of course, a display.

Entrails

Fact: About half of modern personal computers use dual-core processors. Fact: About a third modern smartphones use processors with clock frequency above 1 GHz. I won't beat around the bush. The Acer A510 tablet is based on the nVidia Tegra 3 platform. This means that inside it has a processor with 4 cores (as well as one low-power core) with a clock speed of up to 1.3 GHz each core. Cortex A9.

There is 1 gigabyte of RAM installed, which is more than enough for the most resource-intensive tasks (yes, games, I’ll be honest). Thanks to the efforts of nVidia, the Tegra Zone brand store already has a bunch of games for the platform, optimized, beautiful and simply modern.

About 27.5 gigabytes are available to the user internal memory(in the 32 GB model). If this is not enough for you, feel free to bet microSD card for 64 gigabytes and 96 gigabytes in your pocket, that is, your backpack.

Display – TN matrix, size 10.1 inches, resolution 1280*800, 262 thousand colors. The screen quality is not bad, but not the best, the viewing angles are sufficient, the brightness is with a reserve. Auto-brightness works clearly, although the sensor’s operation is visible (with sudden changes in lighting conditions). Photos and videos look very colorful and nice. The eyes don't get tired.

The display has a capacitive sensor for 10 simultaneous touches.

There are two cameras. Front - 1 megapixel, good for video calls (720p) in Google Talk, Oovoo, Skype. The main camera is 5 megapixels with autofocus. Color rendition is so-so, but when shooting video everything became a little better. Autofocus picks up well; if necessary, it can be adjusted by tapping on the screen. Autofocus does not work when shooting video. The panoramas are cool. Here are examples of photos and videos.

The sound system is stereo speakers, with Dolby Digital Plus software (it helps a lot in movies, but gets in the way of music). The sound is loud and clear, does not plan to fart at all. The sound in the headphones is very loud, the music I listened to was slightly above average. There are two microphones (noise reduction).

Wireless communications are wi-fi 802.11n (with support for b and g, of course), as well as Bluetooth 2.1 EDR. There is a digital compass and GPS. The main advantage of the tablet is its battery. 9860 mA! almost 10 AMP. 36.26 Wh.

Programmatically

As you might guess, the operating system is Ice Cream Sandwitch (4.0.3.). An update to Jelly Bean has already been promised. Only a few add-ons are installed from Acer.
One of the additions is Acer Ring: on the bottom panel, in the center, a circle appears, when you click on it, a menu is called up (this is the Acer Ring), in which you can change the volume, select a bookmark, or launch one of four customizable shortcuts. The advantage of this solution is that you can call it from anywhere - just by clicking on the circle in the panel.
Another notable addition is its own (finished) lockscreen. To the standard functionality of Android 4 (pull to the right - you unlock, pull to the left - the camera opens) three more directions have been added. Or rather, it became like this: if you pull to the right, you remove the block. Pull to the left and choose one of your four programs. More convenient than standard - that's for sure.

Also, a very convenient Acer Print print manager is installed - it allows you to print from your tablet to network printer. A huge list of printers is supported. Everything I found in the area I found and connected. Very convenient: in the office, at home, at a party - you can always print not only a document, but also a photo, a web page, a letter. It will be very useful in life, especially considering that Polaris Office is already pre-installed.

Among other things there is file manager ASTRO, Internet player AUPEIO!, multimedia file manager clear.fi, multimedia server, scarf, antivirus, Zinio kiosk, LumiRead reader - in general, it’s not very loaded and piled up. But everything will come in handy.

In progress

Of course, the first thing I decided to do was load 4 cores - it didn’t work. Everything flew and did not glitch. The brakes were not achieved. The tablet did not get too hot (heating occurs on the right, closer to the HDMI output, apparently the processor is located there). The familiar Quadrant produced about 3,800 parrots - for some reason worse than HTC One X (resolution may have an effect on this). Movies are very enjoyable to watch. FullHD does not slow down, the sound is good. I installed Dice Player, downloaded my favorite series and just watched it on vacation.

In between, I showed my grandparents photos from a DSLR connected via USB, very impressively. Flash drives, card readers, cameras, mice, keyboards - everything is recognized and works. NTFS also understands. Unless you can charge the tablet and connect a flash drive at the same time.

It’s worth mentioning the working hours at the end - because people only remember the beginning and end of the conversation. So here it is. The operating time with the display and wi-fi on is almost 14 hours (the stated 15 hours, I think, are achieved very easily)! I specifically checked the battery. This is very good result. For me, this is the best result. In practice, this is “I’ll leave the charger at home.” Well, or like this: I put the tablet on the table, without turning it off, and left for a week. When I arrived, the tablet was turned on, but the charge dropped by only 5%.

Price – from 500 dollars.

The variety of tablet computers on the electronics market today is amazing. The buyer is offered cheap and expensive devices, made in a plastic or metal case, operating on the basis of an operating room Android systems, iOS or Windows. Agree, it is quite difficult to understand this entire assortment, especially if a person does not have sufficient information about what advantages and disadvantages this or that model hides.

In this article we will introduce you to another interesting device that we think deserves your attention. We are talking about the Acer W510 tablet. Today we will talk about how it works, what characteristics it has, what users write about it in reviews, and whether it is even worth buying for personal use. In this article we will try to characterize the device in terms of configuration, design, technical capabilities and price.

Positioning

To make it clear to the user how the manufacturer positions its device, we will begin this article with a description of its concept. So which one Tablet PC are we characterizing now? At what price level is it located in the hierarchy? Acer models, and who is its potential buyer?

Let us note right away that we are talking about a mid-range device that debuted back in 2012. Despite this, the tablet continues to be sold on the market at a price of $500 per copy. Agree, for such a relatively old device, such a price level looks strange. However, believe me, the technical capabilities of the gadget fully correspond to this.

The tablet is powered by a powerful chip from Intel, modified Atom Z2760, which means it has ample capabilities (large amount of RAM, high clock speed and “smart” operation in general) for the average user. In addition, the device has an exclusive design, an original and stylish body, functional additions such as a camera module and others. Large memory capacity, optimized software And good quality assemblies - all this complements the overall picture and puts the Acer W510 in the most attractive light possible.

Equipment

Start more detailed description We would like to present the device kit and describe the auxiliary modules that come with the tablet. First of all, we are talking about the docking station. The developers of the device announced the release of the device exclusively in conjunction with this accessory, which turns a simple tablet into a full-fledged laptop. As you can guess, the docking station that comes with the device for sale is an original design designed for the Acer W510. There is no need to worry about its compatibility (both at the software level and in terms of design and usability). In terms of its dimensions, colors, and materials from which the docking station is made, it fully corresponds to the concept of the tablet. That is why working with it using the Acer W510 is a pleasure.

The functionality of the docking station is very wide: it can become a convenient stand for your tablet if you rotate it at the opposite angle. It also has an integrated USB port and a connection connector.

Design

The device has a very stylish appearance, which speaks volumes about the technology of the device and its wide functionality. Critics point out that the developers did not use a common style used in all tablet models (the famous “rectangle”, which is used by both Chinese noname developers and leading brands for some of their cheap devices). The company that released the Acer W510 tablet spared no resources in creating its own design and integrating it into the overall ecosystem of its devices. In particular, this can be evidenced by a pseudo-metallic case (made of plastic), consisting of two parts - external and internal. The first includes an outline made in gray, while the second is a dark frame around the display and the “filling” of the tablet itself.

In their reviews, users emphasize that the device really looks interesting and, to some extent, even original (despite all the variety of tablet PCs of different shapes and sizes). However, this image also has its drawbacks. For example, one of them is the gadget’s soiling. Just one careless scratch is enough - and your Acer Iconia W510 tablet will lose its perfect appearance. To prevent this from happening, you need to be extremely careful in operation.

CPU

The tablet, as already noted, has a Z2760 chipset. It supports the operation of the operating room Windows systems(x86), which we will talk about in more detail a little further. Reviews note the speed of the processor itself on the positive side. Users claim that they did not notice any problems with the response of their tablet. There is nothing surprising about this, since in general the system here is much more balanced and optimized than the shell that comes on some Android devices. Due to this, visually the operation of the device looks much “faster”.

The Intel GMA 3650 accelerator also plays an important role. It is designed to work with “heavy” graphics, so there will be no problems playing even the top games on this device.

RAM

When it comes to the operation of mobile devices, it is very important to note how much RAM (or RAM the device) has. Using this characteristic, you will understand how the tablet computer will react to opening several programs at the same time. Since the specifications describing our Acer Iconia W510 indicate the presence of 2 GB of RAM, you can be sure that even working with several applications will not interfere with its performance.

Autonomy

No matter how technologically advanced mobile device, his question battery life and the level of energy consumption remains the most relevant. Indeed, in essence, this indicator determines how long the device can function without additional charging. And in the case of the Acer Iconia W510, the situation regarding its autonomy can be called very positive. The device's battery has a capacity of 3540 mAh, which makes it possible to work continuously in reading mode for up to 10 hours on a single charge. This means that at maximum load on the entire system, the tablet will last up to 5 hours. This is enough to enjoy your device on the road or somewhere far from a power outlet. At the same time, do not forget about the docking station mentioned above.

With its help, your operating time doubles! After all, another battery with a similar capacity is mounted inside this accessory. So, in general, we can say that in any mode of operation our tablet will be enough for a full-time working day.

operating system

In order to characterize the operation of Windows 8, originally presented on this device, it is necessary that the reader has experience interacting with this modification of the system. First of all, we should note the “Desktop” mode, which we observed on other mobile versions Windows-based devices. It looks like this: the user is presented with a screen with a Microsoft-style “tile” that symbolizes the designations of various programs and applications. In some way, this is the same “Desktop” of Android devices, styled differently. If desired, the user can leave it and go to the menu where all applications and add-ons will be available.

The logic of the Windows system on the Acer Iconia W510 is fully preserved. To understand what is meant, you need to work with the device yourself. Some users believe that this organization of the system is very effective and convenient, while others, on the contrary, criticize Windows and consider it uncomfortable for work.

And, of course, let’s not forget about the obvious advantages of this system, such as a suite of office applications, for example. For some users, they are the determining factor in choosing a system for their tablet.

Screen

Looking at the device’s display, the bright and rich colors of the IPS matrix immediately become noticeable. They cannot be confused with anything and, according to users, it is this richness that makes working with the tablet very convenient and understandable in any lighting conditions. Another point that shows the quality of the W510 (reviews confirm this) is the excellent visibility of the image on the monitor even if the device is tilted. And in general, viewing angles can be a universal measure of screen quality, so in this case we could give this model a “5” rating at the very beginning of the test.

Another confirmation of this is the high resolution and pixel accuracy. Despite the fact that the screen diagonal is only 10.1 inches, the device has a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels. This means high dot density and, as a result, excellent image quality.

Connection

In terms of communication capabilities, the Acer W510 (which we are reviewing) is a mixed bag. There are classic data transfer modules (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth), as well as a contactless payment and NFC battery charging module. However, the tablet does not have a slot for a SIM card (hence, there is no support for 3G/LTE connections); and there is also no GPS sensor to determine the location of the tablet. Probably, the developers abandoned these additions due to the positioning of the device not as a portable portable gadget, but rather as personal computer or a laptop for solving work problems.

Heating

Another interesting point that we would like to reveal in this article concerns how hot the device body becomes during its operation. After all, as you know, the more powerful the gadget, the higher the risk that it will become very hot and at the same time create additional discomfort for the user. How is the Acer W510 dealing with this problem?

The characteristics indicate that the tablet is equipped with a passive cooling system, which means an increased risk of heating it during operation. In addition, it has a processor with X86 architecture, which also makes it more prone to temperature increases. However, there's really no need to worry about this.

The world of Windows 8 devices is very diverse - there are tablets, laptops, and various hybrids of them, transformers, as well as strange slider devices. I’ve already had the opportunity to meet one of their representatives, namely the Acer Iconia W700 (review), which seemed like an excellent candidate for purchase, as it had rich functionality in an adequate tablet size, interesting accessories and powerful hardware typical of the latest ultrabooks.

Now his younger brother has fallen into my hands: the Acer Iconia W510 tablet, which is a more mobile solution, and even less expensive, built on Intel based Atom, but at the same time having a full-fledged Windows 8 and a keyboard dock that turns the tablet into a compact laptop. Let's take a closer look.

Video review and unboxing

Design, construction and equipment

The device comes in a massive box that includes not only a tablet, but also a keyboard dock, which doubles as additional battery, increasing the 9-hour operating time of the tablet by another 9 hours. In addition, in the package you can find a power adapter (1500 mA), a cable for it, various documents and a disk with system files, the presence of which in the tablet package seems strange to me for the second time. Acer, please make a flash drive or memory card with the same data. Well, no one will specifically buy a CD drive in order to restore the system or reinstall it on the tablet if something happens!

The tablet itself is similar in appearance to its cousin the W700, but is made of plastic and weighs much less, and it seems incredibly compact even by the standards of similar 10” Android tablets. The screen with a diagonal of 10.1”, a resolution of 1366x768 and IPS technology is covered with Gorilla Glass 2. The display has excellent viewing angles, and the picture looks very nice.

On the front side there is also a front HD camera with a resolution of 2 MP, a light sensor and touch button Windows under the screen. On the left side of the tablet there is one of two stereo speakers, on the right there is a second one, and with it a microSD slot, micro-USB, micro-HDMI connectors, volume buttons and a microphone. Acer W510 prototypes also had a SIM card slot on this side, but in commercial version For some reason, it was decided to abandon the device from this interesting addition. The top end of the device is equipped with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an auto-rotate screen slider and a power button. At the bottom there are only connectors for the docking station and a connector for a proprietary charger. On the back panel there is an 8-megapixel camera with flash, another microphone, an NFC sticker notifying us that the tablet supports this technology, Acer logo, Windows 8 and Intel Atom.

There are no complaints about the assembly of the tablet: nothing creaks, does not play, or fails. It fits perfectly in your hands due to its size and weight. I would even say that this is the most comfortable of all 10.1” tablets that I have ever held in my hands.

Let's move on to the docking station. It is a standard keyboard with an additional battery. Its capacity is not indicated in the device specifications, but it can be assumed that it is similar to a tablet battery, as it allows you to extend battery life by 2 times and reach 18 hours without a power outlet. The dock itself is very light and completely plastic. It seems to me that it could use a few extra grams, since when working with the entire structure on your knees, the screen outweighs the keyboard. On the table, everything stands firmly and does not outweigh anything. Among the advantages of the dock: an additional USB port, a convenient touchpad and a comfortable keyboard, on which for some reason two Fn keys were placed. There is a charging indicator.

The tablet is attached to the dock using a special compartment and latched with a slider. Due to the fact that the mount is on a hinge, the tablet screen can be rotated 295 degrees. The assembly of the dock is a little worse than the tablet, and it feels cheaper, but still there’s nothing to complain about.

Software

The tablet is running full Windows 8 32-Bit. The set of pre-installed software and software is practically no different from the Acer W700, so let me direct you to its review. One of the interesting things about this model is the Always On mode, in which the device always remains on and works in a similar way to a smartphone. The Acer W510 is the world's first Intel-powered tablet with Acer's Always On technology and guarantees standby time of up to 3 weeks.

It is curious that due to the screen resolution used, some interface elements may not fit on it. We are eloquently informed about this by the item in the screen resolution settings. I would also recommend reducing the size of icons, fonts and icons on the taskbar.

Camera

Unlike the Acer W700, the W510 received an 8-megapixel camera module, a more adequate set of resolutions in which you can shoot (without any 1944p, etc.), and most importantly, it does much more high quality photos and video. Of course, shooting on a tablet is bad manners, but good camera There is never too much on hand, you never know where it will come in handy.

Usage experience and tests

Acer Iconia W510 is based on the latest dual-core Intel Atom Z2760 processor with a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz and Imagination SGX545 graphics, created specifically for Windows 8 tablets, has 2 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of memory for data storage. In my case, this is a 64 GB version of the tablet, but of the entire memory array, only 46.6 GB are available, of which only 22 GB are allocated to the user’s needs. It’s scary to think what’s going on on the 32GB version.

Due to the fact that the processor has hardware support for 1080p video, the tablet runs it without problems, although it may need to “warm up” first. The Full HD test video was quite stuttering for the first few minutes of viewing, but then it stopped slowing down completely. In the mode of viewing such a video, the Acer W510 is discharged by 25% in an hour, so the device will last about 4 hours. With the dock connected, the tablet lasted almost 8 hours, discharging by 15% per hour.

As for gaming performance, I tested Cut The Rope, Angry Birds Star Wars, Jetpack Joyride, Reckless Racing Ultimate (which, by the way, is incredibly convenient to play with the keyboard). All games ran perfectly and without any complaints. The same cannot be said about the game ADERA, which I loved while testing the Acer W700, and which crashed immediately after launch. It's worth noting that not all games from the app store are compatible with the weak Intel Atom. For example, the 2D fighting game BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger writes that the PC does not meet the minimum system requirements games. At the same time, the 3D game Hydro Thunder Hurricane from the creators of Riptide GP and Rocket Riot 3D is running great. At the request of readers, I tested the popular game World Of Tanks, but the result cannot even be called satisfactory. The game can only be launched after installation; then, for unknown reasons, an error occurs. The first successful launch of the game was marred by minimal graphics quality and only 5-6 frames per second. I also tried to install the 2005 PC hit - classic NFS Most Wanted. Due to graphic artifacts, I had to set the compatibility mode with Windows 7, but even so, the game can only be played in a resolution of 640x480 - that is, in a small window on the tablet screen, but I cannot call such a scenario convenient. As the resolution increases, severe slowdowns begin even on the minimum graphics.

The Windows performance rating is a good indication of the device's overall performance. As you can see, the weakest point is the graphics, which, in general, is not surprising - the tablet is not positioned at all as a gaming device.

Regarding the stability of the device, it is worth noting the strange behavior of some programs adapted for the touch interface. For example, “VKontakte Messages” refused to launch after logging into your account, but it worked and sent notifications, but it was impossible to respond to messages - it was thrown out. Perhaps the application does not support the tablet configuration, because everything was fine on the same Acer W700. The Internet connection via Wi-Fi also seemed strange. At times the speed dropped significantly, but was restored after rebooting the tablet. However, I had to do this quite often. Perhaps there is a software problem caused by one of the system updates, or there was simply some problem software conflict. Either my router was not to my liking for the tablet :) Also, minor complaints were caused by the strong heating of the right rear side of the device while watching a heavy video, as well as slowdowns in other operations when minimizing it.

conclusions

For 24 thousand rubles (the version with 32 GB of memory will cost 4 thousand less), the user receives a full-fledged convenient tablet and an excellent replacement for a netbook with all the capabilities of a full-fledged Windows. The device’s performance is enough not only for writing text, but also for watching high-quality videos, as well as simple popular games. It is thanks to such convenient and not too expensive devices, offering various usage scenarios and good autonomy, that “tiled” Windows on mobile processors Intel can firmly gain a foothold in the tablet segment, and a wide variety of devices in different form factors can only play into its hands.

The previous generation of tablets from Acer (A500/501) was very popular among users, so it is not surprising that the company decided to continue the successful line. The A510 is the successor to the aging A500 and sits below the A700 and above the A200. model range tablets.

Appearance, control elements, materials used

Externally, the A510 is a complete copy of the flagship A700. On the one hand, it’s a little sad that the company doesn’t pay attention to design special attention. On the other hand, look at the same Galaxy S3, Samsung found its own design (even if not everyone likes it) and exploits it, Acer does the same.

On the left there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a power button; it lights up when charging and missed events.

At the bottom end you can see the microUSB connector and the “Reset” hole.

On the left is a microHDMI connector, and hidden under a flap are slots for a microSD memory card and a SIM card.

At the top left there is a place for the volume rocker and accelerometer lock. The rocker has small protrusions, with their help it is easy to feel it blindly.

The back of the A510 is made of rubberized plastic, thanks to which the tablet is comfortable to hold in your hands and does not slip out. Also on the back are the main camera and two stereo speakers. The latter have an average volume, sufficient for a not too noisy room.

There are no complaints about the assembly, excellent materials, convenient arrangement of elements, nothing creaks, does not play, does not wobble.

Dimensions

Like all Acer tablets, the A510 is heavier and thicker than its competitors. However, many people like just such heavy devices.

  • Acer A200 Dimensions (LxWxD) 259x175x13 mm, weight 720 g
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Dimensions (LxWxD) 257x175x10 mm, weight 588 g
  • Archos 101 G9 Turbo Dimensions (LxWxD) 276x167x13 mm, weight 649 g
  • Acer A510 Dimensions (LxWxD) 260x175x11 mm, weight 675 g

Screen

The model uses a 10.1” capacitive touch screen, covered with Gorilla Glass, supports multi-touch technology, up to ten simultaneous touches. If you wish, you can enable automatic brightness adjustment, since the tablet has a light sensor.

A regular TFT display is used. resolution 1280x800 pixels. It has high viewing angles and above average brightness.

The screen is convenient for everyday use, the minimum brightness is enough for comfortable reading, the maximum is suitable for watching videos on public transport. In the sun, readability deteriorates, but the text or image remains visible.

Comparison of 3Q RC0806B screens, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Acer A510

Summary: A good, pleasant display with natural colors, it is suitable for most tasks: it is pleasant to read, watch videos, surf the web and play games.

Autonomous operation

The A510 uses a battery with a huge capacity of 9800 mAh. Let me remind you that flagship tablet is also equipped with such a battery, but due to the “gluttonous” display, the increase in battery life was almost not noticeable. In the case of the A510, this increase is clearly visible.

When watching HD video at maximum brightness, the tablet's charge lasted for a little over 8 hours.

And when reading books at 10% brightness, the A510 lasted 14 hours 30 minutes.

The numbers are truly impressive. In quiet use, the tablet can easily last a whole week without recharging.

Operating system and add-ons from Acer

The tablet has the latest installed Android version 4.0. You can read more about it.

Lock screen. To unlock your device, you need to swipe the lock icon to the right. And on the left side there are 4 customizable shortcuts; to open the application, just “swipe” in its direction.

Acer Ring. There is a green dot in the center of the notification panel. When you tap on it, a ring with settings opens. There are 4 shortcuts around it, by default they are Browser, Gallery, Quick Screenshot and Settings, but you can easily change them in the same settings. The standard combination of on + volume down buttons for screenshots also works. Something interesting: screenshots taken using the ring are saved to dcim/screenshots, and using the standard combination to pictures/screenshots. To the left of the ring is a volume slider, and to the right is quick access to your bookmarks. A beautiful and functional addition, and most importantly, you can disable it if desired.

Weather and clock widgets. Two beautiful widgets from Acer.

Free version Astro File Manager. Acer has pre-installed a paid version of Astro, its interface is optimized for tablets, and it works correctly with external drives.

Performance

The model is built on the basis of a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz, RAM - 1 GB, capacity internal storage varies from 16 to 64 GB, depending on the modification. The performance of the tablet is at a good level; in third-party launchers, stuttering when scrolling is minimal. The browser works stably, nothing crashes. In games and when watching videos, the back of the tablet gets warm, not too much, but noticeably.

We talked a lot about the features of Tegra 3, I recommend you read this /articles/2011/asus-prime.shtml#13 and this /articles/2012/inuse-prime.shtml#7 article.

Reading

As I said above, the tablet has a high-quality screen, reading from it is a pleasure, and the huge battery life allows you not to think about the imminent discharge. The minimum brightness is perfect for reading in the dark, and 50-60% brightness is enough for the eyes in public transport. For reading, I recommend using Moon+ Reader http://android..site/market/81/

Video

The tablet does not support any additional codecs or containers out of the box, but this problem is easily solved by installing MX video player or other third-party video players. With their help, the A510 perfectly reproduces most video files in resolutions up to 1080p inclusive. A good screen and battery life again have a positive effect on video viewing.

Interfaces

WiFi. b/g/n standards are supported. The tablet connects quickly and holds the signal well. There are no complaints about the module.

GPS. The tablet has a full-fledged GPS module, and is used for navigation. Google Maps. A cold start takes about two minutes, then the location is determined fairly quickly (about 10 seconds).

3G– the A511 model also has a slot for a SIM card. Job complaints mobile internet No.

Bluetooth 2.1– all popular profiles are supported, including A2DP.

Camera

The tablet has two cameras - a 5 MP main camera with autofocus and a 1 MP front camera for video calls. The quality of the main camera is average; you can see examples of pictures and videos below. The front-facing camera supports Skype video calls, but the tablet isn't yet certified to work with the app, so video quality isn't very good.

Conclusion

The tablet is sold in two versions, with and without a 3G module, the memory capacity also varies. The price for the version with 32 GB of memory without 3G is 15 thousand rubles, the version with 3G and 16 GB of memory costs 16 thousand. As is the case with other tablets from Acer, it would be appropriate to call the A510 a “good” model, a phrase that you just want to use when you pick it up. A heavy, well-built tablet with good performance and great battery life. Using Tegra 3 also has a positive effect on working with the A510. Among the shortcomings, I would note the lack of a full-fledged USB port; if you look at the thickness of the device, it seems that it would fit perfectly on the right or left ends. And, of course, I would like hardware support for more video codecs and formats.

Competitors

Asus TF300. Perhaps the main competitor of the A510. Among the advantages, I would note the ability to connect a keyboard dock and best screen, as well as thickness. The downside is the assembly; in some models the plastic back bends. The materials used in the A510 are definitely better.
