In the end I downloaded the file "wlsetup-web.exe" slightly larger than 1 MB. This is not the program itself, but its installer.

After running this file, the “Preparing to install the program” window appears, and after a while the installation window appears, in which there are 2 options:

1. Install all basic Windows components Live;

2. Select programs to install.

I choose the second option to install Messenger, not the entire Windows Live suite.

For example, I only noted Messenger, and pressed the button "Install".

The installation has started.

The program installed for me in a few minutes. The installation speed will depend on the power of the PC and the speed of the Internet connection, because installation comes from the Internet.

If you already have an account in Windows Live, you can connect right away. If you've previously used Hotmail, the Messenger app, or XboxLIVE (for example, you have an Xbox console), then you should have an account.

Open a window with a list of installed programs.
