At the very beginning of summer, the Russian company Explay presented to the whole world an affordable phone with a transparent screen, the new product received a sonorous name - Explay Crystal. This gadget cannot boast of rich functionality or mind-blowing characteristics; first of all, Explay Crystal is aimed at lovers of original creative solutions. Crystal fits this definition very well. The owner of such a device will always be in the center of everyone's attention.

Undoubtedly, the transparent 2.4-inch TFT color screen is the main advantage of the device. The screen has a resolution of 320×240 pixels, the picture quality is simply excellent. The picture is bright and clear for its 262 thousand colors. The transparent display is encased in durable glass armor. The manufacturer did not make any statements about this glass at the presentation; we can only hope that it is strong enough. Screen with sufficient brightness margin. In the sun, the transparent screen fades just like its ordinary counterparts, but remains readable.

The phone is made in a traditional form factor - candy bar. Case material – plastic. dimensions models – 48.3×122x13.5 mm. Weight – 125 grams – is a bit heavy, but this gives you confidence when working with the phone; it fits well in your hand. The back cover looks frankly cheap, and in general the plastic is tolerable. The central button is very specific and will take some getting used to. Overall, the design is very controversial and controversial. But don’t forget that the Explay Crystal is not from the army of ordinary and very similar phones.

This mobile phone supports the operation of two SIM cards simultaneously, as has become traditional for Explay. This should also be considered as an advantage of the device; the user can separate personal calls from work calls, and also simply combine tariffs from different providers cellular communications for beneficial communication. Unfortunately, there is only one module, so there is no simultaneous active operation of both SIM cards.

Explay Crystal has a 1.3-megapixel camera in its arsenal (located on the front side under the screen), to be honest, the camera leaves much to be desired. Shooting on a phone with a transparent screen looks interesting; perhaps the camera is just there for entertainment. The camera can also shoot videos. When connecting the phone to a PC, the device's camera can be used as a web camera, but it should be noted that the video, like the photo, is not of great quality. But the FM receiver does not deserve any complaints, it works clearly, has all the basic functions, it is worth noting good quality reception.

The device supports technology Bluetooth version 3.0 (with support for the A2DP profile), as well as GPRS and WAP, this is enough for data exchange and simple Internet surfing. On the side of the device there is a USB connector and a slot for a memory card (cards (microSD) up to 16 GB are supported). This is enough to store data. The gadget boasts a good media player with support for major formats (MP4, 3GP, AVI, MP3, AAC, WAV).

One of the highlights of the gadget can be considered the two types of menus presented. First - classic interface device located on the left, or the second – colorful animated one which, when selected, will be located on the right. The two presented options have a right to life, they look very stylish, it is impossible to choose the best one, it is a matter of taste for each individual user.

As a battery, the Crystal is equipped with a Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 750 mAh; according to the manufacturer, the resource of this battery is enough for 4 hours of talk time, or 200 hours of standby time.

When regular phones stop surprising the public with their functionality, good old tricks come into play, called “original design” and “creativity.” Equipment manufacturers have already attempted to surprise everyone with a transparent display. Everyone probably remembers Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness with a transparent screen and a sky-high price of 45,000 rubles, and many of us have heard about a mobile phone that never reached our market - the Lenovo S800, which was sold in the vastness of America and Asia for about $500. It is in this field that Explay has prevailed over all its competitors, releasing perhaps the most controversial model of this year - a push-button “dialer” with a transparent color display, and even for 2 SIM cards! With all this, the Russian company simply finished off the manufacturers at the price of its brainchild - at the time of the start of sales, the price of Explay Crystal was at 7,000 rubles, now the device can be purchased from 5,500 rubles.

When setting up the Internet, it is not possible to enter parameters in Russian, unfortunately for a megaphone this input is exactly what is needed. Fortunately, you can select another megaphone profile, where everything is entered in English. The automatic SMS does not accept parameters. The battery cover fits very tightly. The battery could be more powerful. Enough for 2-3 days. My wife is used to such devices 5-7. But this is not important.
The main thing is navigation notebook. It’s somehow incomprehensible and pathetic. Yes, and it’s inconvenient. They seem to be used to it, but why did they make it up? I think I should ask Exploy this question. Maybe they will change the firmware.
