How to unlock a phone tied to an operator. Android from A to Z: How to unlock an Android device locked to an operator (sim unlock). Fraudulent applications for unlocking SIM cards

When purchasing a smartphone second hand, buyers pay great attention to checking it appearance and basic functions, however, they completely overlook one important point: they do not check with the seller whether the gadget is locked. A locked smartphone will cost the buyer less, but then you will have to pay a hundredfold for the immediate benefit. What is a locked device and why is it not recommended to buy such a device?

Locked iPhone ( Sim-Lock) is a gadget that can work with SIM cards of only one mobile operator. Such smartphones are sold together with mobile communications contracts (usually two years). By purchasing a Sim-Lock device, the user voluntarily deprives himself of the right to choose: if the conditions offered by the communication provider no longer suit the iPhone owner, he will not be able to go to competitors.

A SIM card from the “right” operator is required to activate the locked device. This means that a gadget with Sim-Lock cannot be used even as a multimedia device - for watching movies or listening to music.

The practice of selling locked iPhones is common in the USA, Australia and Western European countries. In Russia, iPhone Sim-Lock is on display in large electronics stores and showrooms cellular communication you won’t find it, but when buying online you can easily come across such a copy. Most likely, the device will be locked to SIM cards from a non-domestic provider mobile communications, but foreign (like AT&T), so you won’t be able to solve the problem by simply switching to another operator.

How to find out if an iPhone is locked or not?

Rather than solving a problem, it is better to prevent its occurrence. In order not to get into a stupid situation, finding yourself with an expensive device, but absolutely unsuitable in Russian realities, you should check your iPhone for the presence of Sim-Lock before transferring money to the seller.

There are several ways to understand that an iPhone is locked:

Insert your SIM card. Device without Sim-Lock quickly recognizes the operator. If the gadget is locked, you will see the message “ Activation Required» (« Activation required»).

Through Internet services. Thematic sites claim that free services There is no information left to check Sim-Lock iPhone by IMEI, thereby misleading readers. At the time of this writing, the website www.iphoneox.com exists and works perfectly, where they won’t ask for a single ruble for such a check.

Before using the site, please find out Device IMEI– this number can be found on the iPhone box or in the smartphone settings (path “ Settings» — « Basic» — « About this device»).

A table will appear with detailed information about the smartphone. Find the item " Sim-Lock Status"- if opposite it is “ Unlocked", which means the gadget will be able to work with SIM cards of all operators.

There are other similar portals (for example, the more famous www.imei.info service), but you have to pay to use them. The cost of the test will be about $3.

By model. This is not about modification ( 5S, 6, 6S), namely about models. You can find out the model in the section " About this device» in the device settings.

The two letters after the numbers in the model designation indicate the country for which the device is intended. In our example, these are the letters “ RU" - we understand that this iPhone for Russia, which means Sim-Lock it cannot be on it.

If you buy second hand and see that in the model designation instead of “ RU" is worth, say, " LL"(gadgets for Americans), you will need additional verification, because in the USA iPhones are sold both with and without a SIM lock. Pay attention to the digital code in the designation: numbers 608 , 610 , 318 , 319 they say that the device is blocked.

How to unlock an iPhone?

There are two ways to unlock an iPhone, and each of them requires material costs on the part of the owner of the gadget.

Hardware unlock

Hardware unlock involves the use of a special adapter called Turbo Sim, which is placed in the SIM card tray along with the card itself. The chip of such a device contains unique IMSI identifiers of several well-known mobile operators– this allows you to get rid of the blocking.

When activation occurs, on an iPhone with Turbo Sim a special code arrives that unlocks the radio module and modem of the device.

Hardware unlock has a number of disadvantages:

  • Communication is getting worse.
  • After each signal loss, you have to carry out the activation procedure again.
  • Functions iMessage And Face Time difficult to set up.
  • Many Turbo Sim(for example, companies R-sim) do not allow you to perform any actions with the gadget’s firmware - in particular, update the OS.

Common in Russia Turbo Sim manufacturers such as Gevey, R-Sim, Heicard. Adapters from each company have their pros and cons. Let's say Turbo Sim from Gevey are very fragile, but they allow users to update their iPhone. R-sim, on the contrary, are durable, but for each upgrade the owner of the gadget will have to buy a new adapter from this manufacturer. Heicard stand out from others in that they provide high quality communications.

The cost of one adapter ranges from 1300 to 2000 rubles.

Official "unlock"

What to do if you don’t want to endure the inconvenience associated with using Turbo Sim? Then you need to create an official request to the operator, notifying him of your desire to remove the blocking. The operator can meet halfway, but you will have to pay him the nth amount - we can say that the owner of an iPhone purchases from a specific provider the right to choose a cellular service provider.

The cheapest way to unlock an iPhone locked to an American operator AT&T– it will cost about 1 thousand rubles. Request to cancel blocking AT&T should be submitted here - www.att.com/esupport/index.jsp. The cost of “unlock” reaches 15 thousand rubles (upon withdrawal Sim-Lock, say, a Finnish operator DNA).

You can contact not only operators directly, but also third-party providers who are able to organize an official “unlock” faster (the operator will have to wait about a month for a response to a direct request). It is important to approach the choice of contractor responsibly: you should contact companies that have real offices, and avoid companies that require payment by electronic money and promise instant unlocking.

Conclusion

Before you make a conscious purchase of a locked smartphone, consider whether this deal will be profitable in the long run. To do this you need to consider the cost of the adapter Turbo Sim or the services of iPhone unlocking specialists (depending on the preferred type of unlock). It should also be taken into account that the buyer will not be able to use the iPhone straightaway– he will have to wait until the removal work is completed Sim-Lock or delivery the required adapter. This inconvenience gives the buyer the right to demand an additional discount.

In this material we have collected the most important information about what SIM-Lock is on a phone, where it comes from and how to disable it. We will also talk about whether it is possible to determine whether it is blocked by the operator or not before purchasing.

What is operator SIM-Lock?

SIM-Lock is a common designation for SIM card locking, which is used by the GSM cellular operator. Simply put, if your phone, when installing a SIM card, starts asking for a network unlock code for the SIM card* or displays a text stating that “SIM card is invalid,” then we are dealing with blocking from the operator.

*Do not confuse with the SIM card PIN, which is set by the user.

Who locks phones and why?

Your phone is blocked by your mobile operator to ensure that you only use its services and pay your mobile bills monthly.

There is also quite a large demand for locked phones, since a phone with a lock costs significantly less than an identical device without a lock. But the whole secret is that when you come with the phone you take on a contract - that is, you undertake to pay for the services of this operator certain time. Thus, what you “saved” on the phone itself is secretly included by the operator in the cost of its services, which you agreed to pay.

But what if you suddenly change your mind and want to change your communication provider before the contract is closed? It is to avoid such situations that the operator introduces “sanctions”; in essence, it insures itself against unscrupulous clients and automatically blocks the operation of the device if a “foreign” SIM card is installed in it.

Unpleasant “surprises” with a locked phone most often await buyers on various online platforms, when buying second-hand or at other popular online auctions.

How to unlock your phone and remove operator lock?

In the vocabulary of masters and service centers, removing the lock from the operator is usually called “unlocking”. This is the process of so-called “decoupling” of a device from its “native” network.

It is worth noting that the phone cannot always be unlocked and there are models that cannot be unlocked. Also, unlocking can be permanent (forever) or temporary (if you update the device to latest version- may be blocked again).

But let's start with what we have different ways and unlocking methods:

  • unlocking using the operator who blocked your phone,
  • unlocking using special equipment (boxes and dongles for unlocking in a service center or from an experienced private technician),
  • unlocking using Smart chips (R-sim, Gevey...),
  • unlocking using special programs (DC-unlocker, Sam-KEY...),
  • unlocking using specialized sites that work remotely using IMEI (https://imei-server.ru/).

Let's take a closer look at each of these options and evaluate its disadvantages and advantages.

Unlocking your phone using an operator

In this case, we are talking about the fact that if you are the buyer of the device or you have personal data of the person for whom the purchase contract was issued, then you have the right to contact the operator’s technical support directly (for example, through the official website of this operator) and demand that your device be unlocked. The operator will accept your application and check your accounts in the database. If you have no debts, the term of your phone contract has expired, if this phone is not blacklisted as lost or stolen, then you will be provided with FREE unlocking within a period of a couple of hours to several days.

- absolutely free,

— unlocking carried out by the operator himself will NEVER fail.

— you need to have information about the owner who made this purchase (including the number bank card and other personal information)

— you need to contact the operator yourself and communicate with their support. If the phone was brought from a country whose language you do not know, difficulties may arise.

Unlocking your phone using special equipment

This type of unlocking is carried out exclusively by service center masters and private craftsmen. They buy special equipment that allows them to unlock phones in bulk and with minimal costs. We are talking about boxes: Z3X, ATF, Infinity Box, Octopus, Furious, Sigma, DC-unlocker, etc.

To unlock one phone, it makes no sense to buy this equipment, since you need to be able to use it and the cost will be commensurate with the price of the phone itself.

— you can unlock phones for which the operator refused to provide unlocking for a number of reasons (not a closed contract, debts, phone in blacklist),

— the unlocking will not fail.

- paid service,

— you need to look for a service that has equipment that can unlock your particular model.

- not relevant for iPhones.

Unlocking using Smart chips (R-sim, Gevey...)

This unlocking method is applicable exclusively for Apple devices; if you have a different smartphone, this information is not relevant for you.

Unlocking an iPhone with a Smart chip means purchasing a special “spacer” chip, which is installed in the SIM card tray along with the SIM card in order to “deceive” the phone into accepting it as its own. This cunning way to bypass the blocking was invented by craftsmen from China, who spent a long time racking their brains over how not to pay “Uncle Sam” extra money.

- one of the cheapest unlocking methods.

- this is a temporary unlock, the chip can stop working at any time. Apple is trying to combat this illegal method of bypassing the blocking. There is a known case when, 6 months after the launch of the R-sim chip, Apple changed the algorithm for registering a device on the network, as a result of which all the R-sim smart chips “died” in an instant all over the World! The owners of such phones had no choice but to look for other unlocking methods, or wait until the Chinese come up with and release a new chip for sale with a new algorithm.

- you need to properly configure your phone to work with this chip,

— glitches and temporary loss of the network during operation are possible.

This unlocking method does not work for iPhones; it is only available to owners of phones from other brands.

Through DC-unlocker you can unlock the following models: Huawei, ZTE, Longcheer, Lonsai, MOMO, Maxon, MegaFon, Merlin, Micromax, NETGEAR, Nokia, Novatel, ONDA, Optimus, Option, Orange, Ovation, Pantech, Sierra, SkypePhone, TMN, Toshiba, Vodafone, iNQ.

Via Sam-KEY - Samsung models.

The essence of the method is this: you need to download it to your computer special program from the official websites of these products, then install it on your computer. Then connect the phone to the computer with a cable, the program will immediately detect it and offer to unlock it. All you need to do is click on the “next” and “ok” buttons several times. In total, the procedure takes 5 minutes and is accessible to any user who does not have any special knowledge.

Both sites (DC-unlocker- www.dc-unlocker.com and Sam-KEY- http://www.samkey.org/) have been working for a long time and successfully, in addition to software unlocking, they provide the SC with unlocking equipment, so they can safely trust.

- one of the cheapest unlocking methods,

- no special knowledge is required to unlock your phone using this method,

— such unlocking is permanent and “lifelong.”

— you need to obtain a login and password to enter the program. You can get, or rather buy, this login and password not on the developers’ website, but only from its official resellers. For example, the official reseller of DC-unlocker is the previously mentioned resource https://imei-server.ru/.

In this case, we are talking about ordering an unlocking service on a specialized website that works remotely and provides a wide range of services, including the sale of equipment for the service center, activation and extension of support for boxes and dongles, which we mentioned earlier. This is the so-called indirect unlocking method, when you contact an intermediary to quickly and efficiently receive a service.

In fact, there are a lot of unblocking offers on the Internet, both from individuals and from similar sites, so the risk of falling for scammers is quite high. In this regard, we will not list all the sites known to us, but will focus on the one that does not cause us any doubts and has positively proven itself, working in this area for many years.

In this case, we were interested in the section of the site that contains video instructions for unlocking - these are short videos that show the entire process of unlocking a phone in order to understand what it is and what it really looks like.

This site can be used not only to order any unlocking services, but also for regular consultations. For example, you want to buy a phone of a certain model from a certain operator, or make sure that such a phone can be unlocked. To get information, just contact the site’s help chat with a question that interests you.

— specialized unlocking sites provide services remotely using IMEI (You can view the IMEI of any phone by dialing *#06#). You can unlock your phone online - without leaving your home.

— any brands are supported. You can find out the cost of unlocking a specific model with the help of a consultant in the chat, or look at the price list on the website.

— unlocking for most brands is “lifetime” (with rare exceptions)

— the ability to unlock those devices that can no longer be unlocked. For example, Sony phones that have exhausted attempts to enter the code, or Samsung phones with the same problem.

- the ability to order a special check that will show complete information about the phone - whether it is blocked by the operator or not, whether iCloud is enabled (on iPhone) or Mi Account Lock (on Xiaomi). You can find out the warranty status and also check if the phone is blacklisted.

— getting unlocked is easy: place an order, pay and wait for the result. In case of any problems, the order can be canceled and the payment refunded.

— a wide range of prices, many expensive services.

In general, as you can see, today there are many options that allow you to disable blocking from operators. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages that are worth considering.

Finally, we note that neither the activities of large companies blocking devices, nor the activities of their opponents who are engaged in removing blocking, are in any way regulated at the legislative level in the CIS countries. That is, there are no laws that would prohibit operators from blocking devices, or, on the contrary, that would prohibit removing this blocking.

Thus, all activities of both parties continue to remain a “gray zone”, where those who adapt faster and better to rapidly changing conditions succeed.

We hope this review will be useful to you and help you avoid unpleasant situations when purchasing locked devices. For those who are interested in this topic, we attach a video of the unlocking process Sony phone Xperia L1 G3311, which has exhausted attempts to enter the code because the wrong code was entered many times. Unlocking was carried out remotely using the S1 network unlock tool.

Megafon subscribers who buy so-called locked phones at a low price sometimes want to install a SIM card from another operator into their contract smartphone. Naturally, nothing works out for them, and such a phone does not receive communication at all. And it doesn’t even help manual selection operator in the settings.

What is a locked phone for an operator?

The term mentioned comes from the English word lock, which means “castle”. That is, a locked phone is “under lock and key” and can only be used with a key - a SIM card of a specific operator. So, if you insert a SIM card, for example, Vodafone, into a smartphone locked under Megafon, then such a phone will not work. More precisely, it will not receive communication, although all secondary functionality will be available (music, cameras, wi-fi internet etc.). It will be like a mini-tablet without a SIM card slot and nothing more, so it is logical for users to want to find out how to unlock a phone from Megafon for other operators.

Why is this happening?

The Megafon company, in competition for the market, supplies contract smartphones at a low price. And they can only use SIM cards from this operator, which is very convenient for Megafon itself. Having once sold cheaply locked phones, telecom operators sign up clients for many years who simply cannot switch to other operators (read: competitors). This is a rather cunning and effective way to develop the market, and it is practiced not only in Russia, but also in many other countries of the world. So there is nothing new in this.

Is it possible to unlock?

Many owners of such phones want to know how to unlock a phone from Megafon for other operators. Of course, this is possible. And although protection methods are improving, today there are few effective ways to unlock Megafon. One of them is shown below. But we must warn you: there is no guarantee for unlocked smartphones, so you perform all the described actions at your own risk.

How to unlock a megaphone phone for other operators?

The method described below is only possible with Windows 7 32 bit. First, we need to download the archive for storing and transferring files to any device connected to the Internet. It is available on Yandex.Disk. Copy the contents of the archive to the root system disk C. After this:

  1. Run the file vcredist_x86.exe (necessary for Microsoft installations Visual C++).
  2. Launch the imei text file (it is located at login\images\imei.txt). We enter the IMEI of your phone into it. It is located under the battery or printed on the box. You can also dial the key combination on your phone *#06#.
  3. Close the document and save the changes.
  4. Turn off the phone, remove the battery, connect the phone via USB to the PC, and insert the battery back.
  5. The computer will detect an unknown device. There is a driver in the C:\login\driver package. You must specify this directory when installing an unknown device.
  6. A new COM port will appear in Device Manager. Its meaning must be remembered.
  7. Turn off the phone and remove the battery again.
  8. Launch the FlashTool.exe file (located at C:\login\flashtool\).
  9. The program opens. Click on the menu item on the left (hieroglyph). There's only one of him there.
  10. In the window that opens, in the DIAG 1 line, select the COM port number that you remembered earlier.
  11. Click the "OK" button, then the "??" button. The program will respond with "Ready".
  12. We connect the phone to the PC again and insert the battery. The firmware installation will start automatically.
  13. When the installation process is complete, remove the battery, close the installation program, and turn off the smartphone.
  14. If the phone asks for the Megafon unlock code (it may not ask), then you need to enter 191519373892.
  15. Download and install the firmware from the official Megafon website according to the instructions.
  16. On the switched off smartphone we launch Recovery mode. To do this, you need to simultaneously hold the power and volume up buttons (on some phones this is the power and volume down button).
  17. Select the option "Wipe data\factory reset" (move using the sound button) and activate it using the power button. Then select "Delete all user data".
  18. After completion, select "Reboot system data".

This completes the process. After turning on the phone, you can insert any SIM cards into it, which will now work. Initially, it may seem that unlocking a Megafon phone login for other operators using this method is difficult, but this is not so. Just follow these steps and everything will work out.

Is it dangerous?

Now you know how to unlock a Megafon phone for other operators. If you do something wrong, it can be dangerous, since the phone can simply be damaged by software, after which it will glitch or even stop turning on. Therefore, it is important to know exactly how to unlock a Megafon phone for other operators and weigh the pros and cons. Perhaps even after unsuccessful firmware you will be able to return to your original state, but there are no guarantees. Moreover, we remind you once again: there is no warranty for unlocked smartphones.

But many users respond positively to this unlocking method. But no one can guarantee success. Remember that the responsibility lies entirely with you. We can only wish you good luck in this operation.

We remind you that attempts to repeat the author’s actions may lead to loss of warranty on the equipment and even to its failure. The material is provided for informational purposes only. If you are going to reproduce the steps described below, we strongly advise you to carefully read the article to the end at least once. Operator devices are not a new phenomenon. Even our “Big Three” have been offering branded devices for ten years, if not more. Several things can encourage a potential buyer to purchase a phone or anything else with the operator’s logo. Firstly, almost everywhere, various bonuses are given as a “gift” upon purchase, such as unlimited Internet access for a couple of months or a very favorable (in appearance, of course) tariff. Secondly, the price of a branded device may be lower than that of similar models, but not sold by the operator. Finally, it also happens that some kind of specific model, but you can’t buy it freely anywhere.

Often people make impulsive purchases, coveting a free offer, and after the allotted time has passed, they simply throw the device into the far corner, since they, as a rule, are completely dissatisfied with the tariffs, which they will have to switch to on a forced-voluntary basis. Moreover, it is not so important whether the operator really asks for a lot of money for his services - you quickly get used to good (and free) things, but you don’t want to pay an additional amount for, in general, a not very obligatory and not very vital service . It's good if you bought the device from the same operator that you use constantly. But here’s the catch - devices often end up locked, and if you regularly use the services of another company, then even in theory you won’t be able to do anything useful with them. We will deal with the solution to this issue, that is, the unlocking.

Before we get started, we need to clarify a few points. To begin with, it is useful to make sure that the device is really locked. All you have to do is insert a non-native SIM card and see what happens. If nothing works or the device somehow hints that it would be a good idea to insert the SIM of the desired operator or enter some code, then it is really locked. The next stage is to find out the true manufacturer. The most popular are Chinese products from Huawei or ZTE, less often Alcatel or some other little-known companies. A simple search will give you all the secrets. Along the way, you can find out whether it is possible to buy an unlocked analogue somewhere else and whether it can be unlocked at all. It is quite possible that the operator itself or a third-party company for a small fee, or even for free, is ready to make the device less scrupulous. In general, you need to find out for yourself whether the game is worth the candle.

And we’ll start, perhaps, with unlocking the Megafon E173 modem, nee Huawei E173u-1. One of the many services for generating unlock codes will help us with this. For example, for Huawei, ZTE or Alcatel. There are lists of compatible models everywhere, but they are far from complete. For example, they did not have the E173 line. To get the unlock code, which must be entered on any of these sites, you need to find out the IMEI - a set of 15 digits, also known as a unique identifier. In the case of Huawei E173u-1, it was indicated on the modem case under the cover. Numbers must be entered without hyphens, spaces or other separating characters. Click the Calculator/Generate button and get the coveted eight digits of the unlock code (NCK). Copy them somewhere.

If the modem is still not connected, then it’s time to do it, and at the same time install the Megafon Internet program, since installing it also installs all the necessary drivers. We also need the utility Huawei Modem Code Writer, the link to which is available just below the IMEI input field on the first site. Both programs work successfully in Windows 7. Download the archive with the utility (for some reason it also contains a song), unpack it and run the program. Click Select Com Port, and then Detect and Accept. If the drivers are installed correctly, the connected modem should be recognized normally in the program. All that remains is to press the magic Unlock Modem button and enter the generated eight digits. An entry should appear in the log: “Send Unlock Command... OK.”

Now you can remove the modem, insert a SIM card from another operator, and Megafon Internet will no longer complain that the wrong SIM was inserted. To connect to the Internet, you can use any third party utility, or you can simply create a new profile in Megafon Internet.

The next “victim” will be the Beeline A100 phone, produced in sunny China by ZTE. We will again need to find out the IMEI of the device. You can dial *#06# on the keypad or simply look at the number on the sticker located under the battery. Then you need to enter this number into one of the online calculators, links to which are given above, and receive an unlock code (NCK). After that, dial *983*8284# on the keyboard and enter the generated code. That’s it, now the phone easily accepts SIM cards not only from Beeline, but also from other operators.

Let's finally consider one more little trick - let's make it work Samsung modem SWC-U200 for Yota WiMax network in the Comstar network. This is done using universal firmware, which can be downloaded. You must first install the proprietary Yota Access utility of a certain version. It is also recommended to exit Yota Access before installation. If everything went smoothly, the utility will detect the modem and offer to start the update (step 2). The process is slow, and it is better not to touch anything during the update. If it complains about the lack of drivers, then you will need to restart it and select the first item, wait a little, and only then start the firmware update.

After updating the firmware, go to the virtual CD drive that appears when you connect the adapter. There is a file called CSAccess_v.124_DA15.exe that needs to be launched. After that, from the main menu in the Yota Access section, run the “Install Comstar firmware” script and wait for the process to complete. Then you need to register with Comstar and personal account, in the “Management” → “Access” section, register our modem (we are interested in the MAC address), and also do not forget to top up your account. Now you can connect to new network through the Comstar Access utility from the main menu. To return to our native bosom, run “Install Yota firmware” from there. For more detailed information about working in different WiMax networks, it is best to refer to.

We'll probably stop ranting here. We looked at only three devices as an example, but you can easily find specific instructions and tips for your devices on the Internet, if, of course, unlocking is possible at all. Once again, we recommend asking your operator about the possibility of officially unlocking your device. It may be a little more time consuming, but you won't have to do anything with your own hands. Good luck with your flashing and unlocking!
