Luminous flux of a T8 fluorescent lamp. Fluorescent lamps T8 Technical characteristics. Dimensional parameters of lighting equipment

In practice, it has long been known that when using raster lamps for operational use, people do not need to purchase new lamps for installing LED lighting. Main effective option for reconstruction there are T8 LED lamps of 600 mm and 1200 mm.

These lamps are ideal for office spaces and shops. Often installed in a suspended ceiling. Nowadays, fluorescent lamps 600 x 600 mm with installed 4x18 W fluorescent lamps have practically lost their relevance and have been replaced by new LED ones. This lamp luminaire is installed in a surface-mounted manner.

If you want to save on a full-fledged LED lamp, you can turn the indicated 4 x 18 W fluorescent lamp into an LED lamp by simply replacing the lamps with T8 LED lamps with a G13 base. When making tubes, matte and transparent polycarbonate material is used, and LEDs are installed inside.

The 1200 mm long LED bulbs with G13 base are also equipped with LED elements. They have the required length and can similarly replace 36 W fluorescent lamps in 2 x 36 W luminaires.

When performing such replacements of light sources, it is also necessary to reconstruct the wiring inside the lamp. T8 LED light sources are usually connected directly to a 220 V network. But be sure to check this in the instructions!

We briefly discussed the main, most common options, now we will consider the issue in more detail.

Main types of lamps

Standard sizes of LED lamps are 600 mm, 900 mm, 1200 mm.

According to their design characteristics, they are divided into two types:

  • A lamp where the driver is installed inside the tube under the diodes. The voltage in this lamp reaches up to 220 V.
  • A lamp that uses an external driver. Voltage level 12 V / 24 V.

Flasks are divided into the following types:

  • Matte;
  • Transparent;
  • Translucent;
  • Not transparent.

When making flasks use:

  • Arkyl plastic;
  • Polycarbonate.

These materials are durable and reliable in use.

Standard sizes:

Luminous flux and power consumption increases depending on the length of the light source and is approximately (y different manufacturers may vary):

  • 600 mm, T8 G13, 870–1100 lm, 10 W;
  • 900 mm, T8 G13, 1200–1300 lm, 13 W
  • 1200 mm, T8 G13, 1450–1900 lm, 15–18 W
  • 1500 mm, T8 G13, 2030–2365 lm, 22–24 W

Color temperature varies depending on the type of lamp:

  • Warm white light (2700–3500 K);
  • Neutral white (3500–4500 K);
  • Cold, slightly blue (over 4500 K).

Of all the types, the most the best option will appear neutral white light. This light is great for the eyes. Your eyes will not get tired, and the light will shine brightly. However, for rooms where it is necessary to create a homely atmosphere of comfort (kitchen, bedroom), warm white light will be more acceptable.

Which option to choose

T8 LED lamps have become a popular light source due to the high cost-effectiveness of this solution for replacing fluorescent light with LED. The lamp body itself remains unchanged. Another advantage of these lamps is the ease of replacement in case of failure.

We've all heard that LED lights last a long time: 50,000-100,000 hours, that's over 20 years. Unfortunately, for ordinary everyday situations, and even for cases of purchase LED lamps At enterprises this service life is not achieved.

It happens as in the proverb “the miser pays twice.” In fact, you purchase cheap, low-quality LED light sources with a garbage current control circuit and junk LEDs. As a result, 2–3 years is the maximum service life of such devices. And the unattainable standard of 10–20 years of service remains the lot of those who are ready to purchase a professional, high-quality device. For example, the price for a high-quality analogue of a 4 x 18 W fluorescent lamp cannot be less than 2000–2500 rubles. And of course, you should keep in mind that expensive is not a guarantee, but perhaps the seller’s desire to earn more by selling low-quality goods.

Features of LED lamps

Light flow

If you decide to purchase an LED lamp - an analogue of an 18 W / 36 W fluorescent lamp with a G13 base, then the first thing you should do is determine the required luminous flux. Brighter options will cost more, as they use more energy-efficient diodes. With the same power, such a lamp will shine brighter.

Ripple factor

This important characteristic, affecting health. Ideally, this figure should be less than 1%, but the current legal limit is 5%. This is exactly the kind of pulsation that should be present at light sources in rooms where people work with PCs. Considering the fact that we all use phones, tablets, smartphones and other gadgets in different rooms, then if you care about your health, then make it a rule to use light sources with a pulsation of no more than 5%.

Colorful temperature

As stated earlier, the “warmer” the light, the more comfortable, cozy and relaxing the atmosphere, and vice versa, the “colder” the more invigorating, aggressive, and working.

Installation in a luminaire

Let's consider the issue of replacing fluorescent lamps and provide a diagram for connecting a t8 LED tube.

The connection diagram for LED lamps is quite simple and does not require much effort. However, please read the instructions before connecting, as other options are possible. In particular, there are T8 G13 kits that may require a daisy chain connection.

To connect, you need to supply a 220 V mains voltage to the 220 V lamp using the lamp wires and do not use other additional devices.
It is necessary to remove the starter from the fluorescent lamp and short-circuit the choke. This is necessary to supply the required voltage to the LED lamp.
In the future, if desired, it will be possible to return the starter and fluorescent lamp.

Video on the topic

In this video, the specialist left the chokes in the lamp, however, you can dismantle them, since after the alteration they are no longer useless there.

T8 LED lamp connection diagram

To change the fluorescent lamp in the lamp to a T8 LED, remove the starter (the choke remains in the same place) and install new lamp. In this case, the sockets of the cartridge remain as is, because they are suitable according to the standard for these lamps.

Important: Before starting work, do not forget to turn off the power supply!

When replacing fluorescent lamps with LED lamps, it is necessary to remove the starters and either short-circuit the transformers. or remove them completely. If electromagnetic ballasts (any modification) or high-frequency electromagnetic ballasts (any modification) were previously installed, they must be removed along with the starters.

The output contacts of the lamps, located on one side, are closed. Therefore, it does not matter which pin the voltage is applied to.

Connection diagram with diode lamps with a rated voltage of 220V:

Replacing fluorescent lamps with T8 G13 LED lamps

Replacing T8 fluorescent lamps with T8 LED lamps (lately we often hear “LED tubes”) is quite simple.

Externally, connecting T8 fluorescent lamps, or as they are also called G13 T8, is no different from connecting T8 LED lamps, or rather not even the connection, but the installation process itself. The fluorescent lamp was removed and the LED lamp was inserted.

The peculiarity of the installation is that to operate, T8 LED tubes do not require ballasts, or, more simply put, it must be directly connected to a 220V power supply like a regular light bulb, while powering fluorescent lamps at the time of startup requires a starter and a choke.

Therefore, in the luminaire itself, in which T8 LED lamps will be installed, the switching circuit of the fluorescent lamp must be changed, i.e., it is necessary to rewire the wires from the electrical network directly to the sockets into which the G13 base is inserted, bypassing the ballast (starter and choke).

It is quite obvious that it is most convenient to perform these works with the lamp removed, on the mounting table. Before starting work where the T8 G13 lamp will be replaced, to comply with safety precautions, turn off the power to the lamp in which the fluorescent lamp will be replaced. To do this, simply turning off the switch is not enough, since it can be accidentally turned on by strangers during replacement work.

Replacing a T8 G13 fluorescent lamp

To install a T8 G13 LED tube in place of a T8 fluorescent lamp, you must perform the following work: disconnect the wires from the starter, disconnect the wires from the throttle, connect the wires from the electrical network to the G13 socket, i.e., apply 220V voltage to the lamp directly, as shown in the figure.

At the same time, it is not necessary to completely dismantle the starter and choke - the lamps last 50 thousand hours for 7-8 years, and in the event of a change of office or premises, the lamps can be restored to work with fluorescent lamps, and T8 LED tubes can be used in a new place.

Additional Information

T8 LED lamps are used in all luminaires that use T8 G13 fluorescent lamps with lengths of 600 mm, 1200 mm, 1500 mm and energy consumption of 18W, 36W, 58W.

A luminaire in which a T8 fluorescent lamp is installed consumes more because there are losses on the ballast. If the luminaire uses electromagnetic ballast, then the actual consumption of the luminaire is approximately 20% greater than the specified consumption for a fluorescent lamp; if the ballast is electronic, then the consumption of the luminaire is approximately 8% greater than the indicated consumption for a fluorescent lamp. Advantages of T8 LED tubes do not require ballasts (starters, ballasts and other ballasts) does not contain mercury, therefore does not require disposal (disposal of fluorescent lamps is quite an expensive procedure) energy consumption of an LED lamp is 2 times less than fluorescent lamps T8 LED lamps do not flicker and do not tire the eyesight a lamp with a T8 LED lamp does not hum; the service life is about 50,000 hours (versus 5-8 thousand hours for a fluorescent lamp).

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

Are a complete replacement noi in terms of luminous flux of T8 fluorescent lamps in raster with luminaire.

Energy savings of 50% compared to fluorescent lamps.

SPECIAL TECHNICAL ADVANTAGES

The most important factor that ensures the longevity of the lamp is high-quality heat dissipation from the LED chips. In addition to the main radiator, the Maxus LED lamp has an additional fin for heat dissipation. Due to this, heat is removed from the mounting plate through 3 points.

LED chips are installed on both sides printed circuit board and when using a special material of increased density, which also contributes to high-quality heat dissipation.

Modular board system

Soldering is not used to connect parts of the lamp circuit board. All parts are connected using special gold-plated connectors. This type connection ensures the reliability and durability of the lamp.

The driver uses modern microcircuits that make it possible to minimize the size and eliminate the use of a high-voltage electrolytic capacitor. As a result, a PF value of 0.93 is achieved, and there are no current surges when the lighting is turned on. Highly efficient DNC filter completely eliminates interference electrical network.

The driver is built according to the circuit of a galvanically isolated pulse-width modulator (PWM), a current stabilizer with feedback, which makes it possible to maintain a stable current on LED chips with high accuracy wide range supply voltage 175-275 V.

The PWM is designed for a maximum load of 35 W, which ensures optimal temperature conditions even when operating under significant load.

WIDE LIGHT DISTRIBUTION CURVE

LED tubes OgonOK T8-600

To effectively replace outdated lamps, an analogue of an 18 W fluorescent lamp. These LED lamps have standard size and fits any lighting fixtures. In addition to low power consumption (6.5 W), the tubes are flicker-free and therefore safe for eyesight. The lamps are made of impact-resistant, safe materials; they cannot be accidentally broken or injured.

When turned on, the temperature of the tubes is only a few degrees higher than the ambient temperature, so it is impossible to get burned by them. If there is a sudden voltage drop, the tubes will continue to work. All of the listed characteristics allow the use of these lamps in a wide variety of conditions, even close to extreme ones.

Advantages:

  • energy savings compared to fluorescent lamps
  • no pulsations harmful to the eyes
  • does not require special disposal
  • doesn't beat
  • Doesn't heat up, doesn't burn
  • does not contain mercury or other harmful substances
  • resistant to temperature and voltage changes.

Specifications:

T8 LED tubes are becoming more affordable every year. For new construction, you can use ready-made luminaires with T8 LED tubes, and for reconstruction, it is possible to upgrade existing fluorescent ones.

In one of the last articles, I considered the economic effect of replacing fluorescent lamps with T8 LED tubes. Let's look at how LED tubes are connected.

To simplify the replacement of T8 type fluorescent lamps with T8 LED tubes, manufacturers made the LED tubes have the same base (G13) as the fluorescent ones, although only 2 contacts are required to turn on the LED tubes, not 4.

Seals, security holograms, documents, everything is in perfect condition. Additional equipment: timers for automatic control counters, 63A circuit breakers in a 25A housing, additional remote controls.

The connection diagram for T8 LED tubes is very simple and is no different from the connection diagram for a conventional incandescent lamp.

Connection diagram for T8 LED tubes

To turn on the LED tube, it is enough to apply voltage to the lamp without using any additional devices. Unlike a fluorescent lamp, an LED lamp does not require ballasts (ballasts).

If you have fluorescent lamps with T8 lamps, then after a little modernization these lamps can be operated with LED tubes.

The connection diagram for T8 LED tubes instead of fluorescent lamps is presented below:

Connection diagram for T8 LED tubes instead of fluorescent lamps

It is necessary to remove the starter from the existing fluorescent lamp and short-circuit the choke, i.e. It is required to supply voltage directly to the LED lamp.

At any time it is possible to carry out a reverse modernization and use the same fluorescent lamps without resorting to significant financial costs.

LED lamp T8 voltage 90-260V power 24W brightness 2360Lm base type g13 length 900mm

Introducing LED linear lamps T8, produced by the company – our long-time partner in LED lighting products. These types of LED lamps are similar in shape to conventional tubular fluorescent lamps. They got the name linear because they provide a line of continuous light.

Such lamps look very organic in corridors or elongated rooms. They are usually located parallel to the long axis of the room.

Abbreviations and numbers in the marking of a T8 lamp with a G13 socket

According to the designation system used in the USA, linear or tubular lamps are marked with a capital letter “T” and a one- or two-digit number. The letter T is an abbreviation of the English word “tubes” or “tubes”. The number indicates the diameter of the glass tube of the lamp.

In the American designation system for linear fluorescent lamps (in the US they are called fluorescent lamps), the digital part corresponds to an integer multiplied by 1/8 inch. For example:

  • T2 is 2/8 inch or 0.25 inch (“finger”) or in and equals 1/4 x 25.4 mm = 6.35 mm;
  • T5 – 5/8 in or 15.875 mm;
  • T8 – 8/8 in – 25.4 mm;
  • T12 – 12/8 in or 38.1 mm.

To simplify, the diameter is rounded to convenient values - 6, 16, 25, 38, etc. Therefore linear LED lamp Led T8 has a real diameter of 25.4 mm, conventionally rounded to 26 mm.

The length of a llama's bulb is usually proportional to its power. For T-type LED lamps with a two-pin G13 base, the website offers three lengths - 600, 900 and 1200 mm.

T8 tube lamps with LEDs

LED linear lamps with G13 socket are intended to replace fluorescent lamps in previously manufactured luminaires. They have appropriate installation dimensions and lighting characteristics. Lamps T8 220V work directly from the network alternating current, so they do not require separate power supplies.

An example of such lamps would be a lamp of the ECOTUBE category model.

A special feature of the lamps presented on the site is a rotating base. A flat LED strip is installed in the lamp tube, giving light not in all directions, but only in one direction. After installing the lamp in the lamp, you can turn it and direct the flow of light in the required direction. This feature is reflected in the lamp marking with the letters DR (Dado Rotating - rotating base).
