Since there is backward compatibility, a USB 3.0 device can be plugged into a USB 2.0 port without any problems. In this case, it will work in compatibility mode at lower speeds. Therefore, I recommend buying hard drives with USB 3.0. Even if your computer does not have this modern connector, it will be a good foundation for the future. When it appears, you will see a significant increase (3-4 times) in speed.
