A little history

The opportunity to spend money from a mobile account not on communication services initially appeared with. However, the service has not yet become widespread.

Mobile money from Vodafone in Ukraine began to be discussed two years ago. In 2015, the British mobile operator received rights to use in the country (system mobile money, first launched in Kenya). But the service under this brand never launched. Vodafone mobile money came to Ukraine under the name Vodafone Pay.

Who can use Vodafone Pay?

All subscribers can install the application mobile operators. But the service’s website states that payments from a personal account are available only to Vodafone subscribers. Clients of other providers will be able to use card transfers.

When registering, the service requests the subscriber’s phone number and sends a one-time confirmation code to it. Everything is set up conveniently - the user does not need to switch between applications and remember a six-digit password - the application has auto-fill. All that remains is to come up with a PIN code. If you decide to log out of your account, you will have to repeat the process when you try to return.

How to pay in the app?

The Vodafone Pay app is not limited to payments from a mobile operator account. For those who are used to paying by card, there is a corresponding service. At the same time, the commission for transferring from card to card was a pleasant surprise - it is less than that of popular Internet providers.

To send money to someone, you first need to choose which account the funds will be debited from - mobile or bank. To do this, there are two items in the menu - “transfer from account” and “transfer from card”. Depending on which method you choose, the commission will change. More on this later.


  • Mobile money

If you point to mobile application Vodafone number, it automatically becomes your mobile money account. Subsequently, money for purchases will be debited from the same number as expenses for calls and SMS. Please note that transfers are made only from Vodafone accounts. The application has two functions related to QR codes. This is scanning someone else's QR and creating your own. Both options make it easier to transfer money between Vodafone Pay app users. By scanning the code of the transfer recipient, the application will automatically recognize his number. And the sender does not need to enter it manually. However, the service has an obvious drawback - by scanning the QR, you can only send money from a payment card to a mobile account. But not the other way around.

What other payments are available in the app?

In addition to money transfers, you can pay in the application mobile communications, banking services, games, Internet, television, communal payments, taxi bills.

Another application allows you to send a request to remittance. The recipient will receive an SMS indicating the number to which money should be sent and an offer to download the Vodafone Pay application.

It is too early to talk about the demand for such a service among Ukrainians. After all, the number of its downloads is Google Play has not yet exceeded 5 thousand. And only 67 people rated the mobile wallet.

To submit a request for help, the subscriber needs to send a free message. Its text should look like the word SOS space and a number in the above format. As the addressee, enter 123.

After sending, the recipient will receive an SMS with a request to transfer Life money to the specified subscriber number.

The money transfer is carried out in two stages. First, enter the code *111*380ХХХХХХХХ*YYY#, and then the sender needs to confirm the operation. Answer 1 to confirm; or 2 to reject the application.

Other ways to transfer money from Life

In addition to the standard USSD request, there are two more ways to transfer money to Life:

  • via SMS;
  • via menu *124#

To send money via message, indicate PEREVOD in the text; space; number in the specified format; space; the amount of money transferred. Enter number 124 as the recipient.

If you use the *124# menu, in the dialog message you need to select the “Balance Transfer” category, and then indicate the number of the subscriber to whom you intend to send, as well as the amount that will be credited to the recipient’s account.

Cost and features of the service

Each sending of money from one subscriber account to another is charged at 3 UAH per operation. These conditions apply regardless of the chosen method of transferring funds.

Please note that money coming from another subscriber goes exclusively to the recipient's bonus account. This must be kept in mind, since it (the bonus account) will be spent in a secondary manner. Always, first of all, payment for mobile communication services is made from the main account.


After activating the SIM card, you can transfer money from Life immediately, with the exception of some cases. These include connecting a new subscriber NOT at official points of sale and service centers service. Use of the service, after connecting a new number, in this case, may be delayed up to 21 days.

Money received to a bonus subscriber account has a validity period of 15 days. Immediately after the expiration of this period, the amount on the balance is canceled, without the possibility of further use.

1 bonus is the equivalent of 1 hryvnia.

The money in the bonus account can be spent on all usual outgoing mobile communication services included in tariff plan subscriber

In no case should bonus funds be considered as a full-fledged analogue of Ukrainian currency. Although the 1:1 rate applies here, according to the legislation of Ukraine, such funds, in the event of termination of the contract, cannot be paid as compensation and will be canceled in any case, excluding the possibility of their return to the client.

The Lifecell operator reserves the right to unilaterally accrue or write off bonus funds. This can happen without the subscriber’s consent, in case of violation of the current legislation.

This option, which allows you to transfer money from Vodafone to Vodafone, is similar to the previous one, but here you need to send not a USSD combination, but an SMS. Otherwise, these methods of replenishing your account are not very different. Using both, you can transfer funds, and you will have to pay a commission in any case.

How to send money:

  1. Dial an SMS message with the following content: phone number*amount to be transferred to the Vodafone subscriber.
  2. Send SMS to number 150.
  3. Wait until the instruction comes in response.
  4. Complete all actions.
  5. Wait for the password to arrive to confirm the transaction.
  6. Dial the command *150*password#.

If the transaction was successful, the sender will be notified. It is impossible today to transfer money from Vodafone to Kyivstar using the same methods, but the reverse operation is permissible.

Important! The minimum transfer size is one hryvnia, and the commission is 1% plus another three hryvnia. The main thing is that after the transfer there is at least five hryvnia left on the sender’s balance. To you: the request has been accepted and will be processed within 5 minutes; and to the recipient subscriber: your balance has been replenished by 20 hryvnia.

As you can see, transferring money from Kyivstar to Kyivstar is as easy as shelling pears. The same scheme is similar for subscribers in roaming and for other mobile operators.   • if the number was restored due to blocking or expiration.

At this moment you will receive an SMS notification about its active status. Please note that it may take up to 2 days from the amount of the required costs to connection.

The maximum sending amount at one time should not exceed 200 hryvnia. Also, Kyivstar has set a monthly limit: 10,000 UAH. The conditions are such that after sending, the sender’s account should not be less than 3 hryvnia; one recipient can receive no more than 10 transfers in 24 hours; The minimum transferred amount is 1 UAH.

The funds go to the main account and are spent like the main money.
